La presente investigación describe el proceso de validación del método para la determinación de oro por ensayo al fuego combinado con espectrofotometría de absorción atómica en sedimentos, rocas, concentrados y relaves, con el objetivo de obtener resultados confiables. En el estudio se establecieron los parámetros de validación, los cuales son: límite de detección (LD), límite de cuantificación (LC), intervalo de trabajo, linealidad, selectividad y especificidad, repetibilidad y precisión intermedia, veracidad e incertidumbre, y sus criterios de cumplimiento. Mediante análisis estadístico de los resultados experimentales, y junto a los criterios de aceptación y rechazo, se evaluaron los parámetros de validación antes mencionados. Finalmente, el método implementado por el laboratorio químico del IIGE para la determinación de oro, se declara validado en muestras de sedimentos, rocas, concentrados y relaves.
La naturaleza humana incluye diversos atributos, como la competencia, la cooperación, el altruismo y el egoísmo. Muchas veces se le da más atención a los atributos negativos (egoísmo y competencia) que a los positivos (altruismo y cooperación). Sin embargo, la cooperación es un elemento vital para cualquier especie social, incluido el ser humano. En el presente trabajo se exploran los mecanismos que permiten la evolución de la cooperación en especies sociales, y se discuten las implicancias de tener individuos cooperadores y ego ístas dentro de un grupo, a través de la teoría de juegos aplicada al comportamiento.
Introducción: La familia Scolopacidae (Orden: Charadriiformes) es una de las familias más abundantes en los humedales costeros. El Humedal Costero Poza de la Arenilla cuenta con un registro histórico de 20 especies de escolopácidos; los eventos climáticos podrían afectar la distribución y migración de varias especies de esta familia taxonómica, reduciendo su riqueza y abundancia. Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre la riqueza y la abundancia de las especies pertenecientes a la familia Scolopacidae y la temperatura superficial del mar (TSM) y el índice costero El Niño (ICEN) en el Humedal Costero Poza de la Arenilla. Métodos: Se realizaron muestreos dos veces por mes entre enero 2013 y enero 2019 utilizando el método del conteo total para determinar la abundancia de las especies (N = 292). Se realizó un análisis de correlación de Spearman entre la abundancia, riqueza, TSM e ICEN, y se procedió a calcular la diversidad beta a través del índice de Whittaker, tanto para analizar el recambio anual para cada estación como el recambio estacional dentro de cada año. Resultados: Se obtuvieron dos correlaciones significativas: entre TSM y abundancia y entre ICEN y riqueza. Por otro lado, la prueba ANOSIM arrojó diferencias estacionales en las abundancias de las especies, y la prueba SIMPER arrojó que la mayor diferencia en las abundancias entre estaciones fue entre otoño y primavera (disimilitud de Bray-Curtis = 81.57 %), y la mínima entre invierno y primavera (disimilitud de Bray-Curtis = 49.86 %). Conclusiones: Las dinámicas ecológicas de las comunidades de escolopácidos en La Arenilla se ven modificadas de manera importante en función a las variaciones de los parámetros térmicos ambientales relacionados al cambio climático.
Los humedales del Callao cuentan con una variedad de organismos de fauna y flora acuática. Estos oasis chalacos (Área de Conservación Regional Humedales de Ventanilla (ACR), Parque Ecológico Municipal “El Mirador” y El Humedal Costero Poza de la Arenilla-HCPA) cuentan con un gran atractivo para el turismo y la observación de aves. Sin embargo, solo se cuenta con un humedal con categoría de protección: Área de Conservación Regional Humedales de Ventanilla (ACRHV). Si bien es cierto, los otros dos humedales no cuentan con una categoría de protección, existen iniciativas para su conservación. Se identificaron las especies de aves que albergan estos humedales y se contó con información precisa de la avifauna residente y migratoria. Se calculó el índice de similitud de Jaccard para 1) determinar la similitud en la composición de especies entre los tres humedales: ACRHV, El Mirador y HCPA, y 2) calcular la similitud entre las mismas categorías de estacionalidad para ACRHV, El Mirador y HCPA. Las familias con mayor riqueza fueron Scolopacidae (22) y Laridae (14). En cuanto a la estacionalidad, la principal diferencia observada entre los humedales ubicados en el distrito de Ventanilla (ACRHV y El Mirador) y La Punta (HCPA) es en especies residentes (Re), con 55 especies para Ventanilla y 24 especies para La Punta. En relación a la similitud según estacionalidad, la mayor similitud de Jaccard la obtuvieron las especies migratorias boreales, con casi 59% especies compartidas entre el distrito de Ventanilla y La Punta. Los resultados de este estudio muestran la estrecha relación que existe entre los tres humedales del Callao, siendo hábitats compartidos para muchas especies de aves. Se requiere impulsar acciones para la gestión de estos ecosistemas a nivel regional, tales como la creación de un corredor biológico importante en la zona centro de Lima y Callao.
Se evaluó la percepción de la población citadina de Lima sobre algunos aspectos relacionados con la evolución e historia natural del ser humano. Un total de 384 personas mayores de 18 años, fueron evaluadas por medio de una encuesta oral. Los resultados indican que un 34% de la población de Lima desconoce el pasado de nuestra especie de al menos unos 70000 años, así como la historia evolutiva de los homínidos, que tiene al menos unos 4 millones de años; el 48% no está de acuerdo con que nos hayamos desarrollado de otras especies animales; y el 32% considera que los seres humanos vivimos al mismo tiempo que los dinosaurios. Los resultados obtenidos deben ser utilizados para establecer políticas que permitan un acercamiento entre la población general y los científicos. Asimismo, estos resultados indican la necesidad de preparar a las nuevas generaciones con un pensamiento crítico apropiado, de manera que pueden tener una percepción adecuada del entorno y de la historia evolutiva de nuestra especie.
