Proliferating trichilemmal tumor (PTT) is a benign tumor arising from the isthmic portion of the hair follicle. Malignant transformation in PPT is very rare and unusual. Indeed, only about sixty well-documented cases have been found in the English literature. We present here the case of a 72-year-old patient with an exceptional combination of malignant trichilemmal carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma, occurring on actinic keratosis lesions. The aim of this work is to describe the diagnostic and therapeutic modalities of this association which is exceptional.
Mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) is the epithelial salivary gland neoplasm of the oral cavity. The most common pathological type for the salivary gland tumors of the head and neck was mucoepidermoid carcinoma. In our work, we report a case of mucoepidermoid carcinoma observed in a 50-year-old man. Clinically, he presented the ulcer-budding tumor of the soft palate, movable relative to the deep plan measuring 2,5 cm. The diagnosis was based on clinical, radiological and pathological arguments. Complete surgical excision is the treatment of choice in combination with postoperative radiotherapy and chemotherapy
Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors are rare benign tumors of unknown etiology. Initially described in the lungs, they have been observed in several other locations, mainly abdominal and pelvic. Cervicofacial localization is very rare and orbital localization is exceptional.
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) ankylosis is characterized by bone and/or fibrous union between the condyle and the glenoid fossa, restricting joint movements. The etiology of ankylosis may be related to infectious processes. We present the case of the bilateral temporomandibular joint ankylosis in Buckley's syndrome. It is suggested to be ankylosis secondary to recurrent arthritis of the temporomandibular joint. The treatment was surgical include arthroplasty of the joint cavity, coronoidectomy and reconstruction with autogenous costochondral rib graft.
Maxillary sinus mucocele is a benign cyst formation that originates within the sinus and is lined by epithelium containing mucus. It’s a rare pathology characterized by a clinical polymorphism. This study reports the case of a giant left maxillary sinus mucocele in a 61-year-old female patient. Through clinical examination, vestibular deformation from tooth 23 to tooth 26 was determined, and also an exophthalmos. Facial CT scan showed a cystic mass of the left maxillary sinus with bone thinning. The treatment consisted in the excision of the mucocele pocket through Caldwell-Luc approach under general anesthesia.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
