O estudo apresenta a ampla discussão sobre a proposta de emprego da gestão por processos na Polícia Militar do Paraná (PMPR), a partir do suporte normativo do Planejamento Estratégico da Corporação, previsto pela Portaria do Comando-Geral nº 273/2022. Os estudos da perspectiva da gestão por processos para o setor público são incipientes, e encontram respaldo técnico e jurídico no artigo 37 da Constituição Federal de 1988, quando elenca o princípio da eficiência, e para a administração pública trata da gestão dos recursos públicos com responsabilidade e com o foco no resultado. A investigação teve por objetivo saber como a gestão por processos colabora e facilita nas diversas ações da administração policial militar, na busca da eficiência organizacional. A pesquisa, com enfoque qualitativo e tipo de estudo descritivo, utilizou a revisão sistemática da literatura, com a reunião de estudos relevantes sobre a gestão por processos e a legislação pertinente. Como principais resultados de pesquisa destaca-se que a PMPR apresenta uma complexa estrutura interna, e modelo de organização identificado como funcional. As medidas de mudanças derivadas da gestão por processos devem sempre considerar a doutrina e a cultura organizacional, com o planejamento de transição estrutural funcional para o orientado ao processo, preservando a sua identidade Institucional.
