<p>To expand knowledge on the accessibility of higher education to students with disabilities, the study compared 170 such students in higher education institutions in Israel with 156 students without disabilities for formal achievements and overall participation in higher education. Results revealed that academic achievements of students with disabilities were almost as high as those of students without disabilities, and overall students' experiences were similar. But the two groups of students differed in areas of experiences, as did students with various disabilities among themselves. Analysis of the data indicates that students with disabilities invested more time to meet the demands of their studies, participated in fewer social and extra-curricular activities, and used computers and information technology less. Higher education institutes still have a long way to go to reduce the gap in social inclusion of students with disabilities and to adjust academic standards for their needs.</p>

The CLASS shows good internal reliability and may be useful in the future as a clinical and research tool in occupational therapy for evaluating leisure activities among typically developing children and adolescents.

This study wasconducted toexamine theutility of theActivity Card Sort (ACS) asa unique assessment tool for measuring adult human occupation and level of activity. Factor analysis was usedto determine whether the picture itemsof theACS empirically cluster intofour categories of human occupations (instrumental activities, low-demand leisure activities, high-demand leisure activities, and social activities), as well as to compare young and elderly people's classifications of activities on the ACS instrument. The study sample consisted of 184 participants who were divided into two groups (53 students and 131 elderly people). Factor analysis revealed five factors for student activities and four factors for elderly people's activities. The analysis of variance revealed that students were involved primarily in leisure activities and secondarily in independent activities of daily living (IADL), whereas elderly people were mostly involved in IADL. Pearson correlations showed thefive student categories to be distinctive, whereas substantial overlapping among categories was obtained for elderly people. The use of the ACS as an important research instrument may serve to advance our understanding of the categorization of human occupations amongdifferent age groups by identifying underlying dimensions of occupational performance and assessing intensity of involvement in different occupational categories. In addition, this instrument highlights the interaction between occupational performance, person factors (various age and gender groups), and environment factors (e.g., culture).

This study analyzes the time allocation patterns at work of a sample group of Israeli occupational therapists who function in different roles and specialty areas. The sample consisted of 89 female occupational therapists working in the areas of physical impairment, rehabilitation, psychiatry, and pediatrics. Subjects recorded all of their activities during one work week and rated 23 previously identified occupational therapy activities according to perceived levels of importance. The results indicated that, on the whole, occupational therapists in all areas devoted at least two-thirds of their time to treatment-related activities (direct and indirect treatment). The results led us to conclude that the time allocation patterns used may have been conducive to "burnout." Therefore, to facilitate professional growth, we recommend that priorities be set and followed and also that role definitions be adhered to more strictly.
