En este estudio, hemos diseñado teóricamente una serie de electrodonadores del tipo D-π-A que contienen un fragmento π enlazador para obtener los derivados del diciclopentapirrol (D-DCP-A), que podrían ser utilizados en celdas solares orgánicas (OSCs) de heterounión de volumen (BHJ). Estos derivados fueron diseñados y caracterizados usando cálculos DFT and TDDFT. El fragmento aceptor de anclaje fue el 2-metilenmalononitrilo para todos los electrodonadores, mientras que el fragmento cromóforo permutaba entre pirrol, tiofeno y selenofeno. La estimación de la energía de los orbitales HOMO-LUMO fue discutida. Las propiedades que afectan la eficiencia de conversión fotoeléctrica (PCE) como estructura geométrica, energía de la fuerza motriz del excitón, band gap óptico, densidad de fotocorriente de corto circuito, fotovoltaje de circuito abierto y espectros de absorción simulados fueron investigadas. Los cálculos teóricos de TDDFT utilizando el Método de Atenuación de Coulomb CAM-B3LYP fue capaz de predecir las propiedades del estado excitado. Los derivados D-DCP-A mezclados con ácido [6,6]-fenil-C71-butírico (PC71BM) muestran una PCE superior al 15%, siendo el derivado Dc-DCP-A el de mejor proyección con una PCE del 15.84%, por tanto, estos complejos son propuestos como material fotoactivo en la construcción de celdas solares BHJ.
