We investigate the influence of an external magnetic field on chiral symmetry breaking in a four-fermion interaction model at finite temperature and chemical potential. Using the Fock-Schwinger proper time method, we calculate the effective potential for the four-fermion interaction model to leading order in the 1/Nc expansion. The phase structure of the chiral symmetry breaking is determined in the T -µ, H-T and µ-H planes. The external magnetic field modifies the phase structure. It is found that a new phase appears for a large chemical
We investigate the influence of an external magnetic field on chiral symmetry breaking in the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model at finite temperature and chemical potential. According to the Fock-Schwinger proper-time method, we calculate the effective potential in the leading order of the 1/N c expansion. The phase boundary dividing the symmetric phase and the broken phase is illustrated numerically. A complex behavior of the phase boundary is found for large chemical potential.
We study the regularization dependence on meson properties and the phase diagram of quark matter by using the two flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. The model also has the parameter dependence in each regularization, so we explicitly give the model parameters for some sets of the input observables, then investigate its effect on the phase diagram. We find that the location or the existence of the critical end point highly depends on the regularization methods and the model parameters. Then we think that regularization and parameters are carefully considered when one investigates the QCD critical end point in the effective model studies.
We discuss how the cosmological baryon asymmetry can be achieved by the lepton family asymmetries of heavy Majorana neutrino decays and they are related to CP violation in neutrino oscillation, in the minimal seesaw model with two heavy Majorana neutrinos. We derive the most general formula for CP violation in neutrino oscillation in terms of the heavy Majorana masses and Yukawa mass term. It is shown that the formula is very useful to classify several models in which e−, µ− and τ −leptogenesis can be separately realized and to see how they are connected with low energy CP violaton. To make the models predictive, we take texture with two zeros in the Dirac neutrino Yukawa matrix. In particular, we find some interesting cases in which CP violation in neutrino oscillation can happen while lepton family asymmetries do not exist at all. On the contrary, we can find e−, µ− and τ −leptogenesis scenarios in which the cosmological CP violation and low energy CP violation measurable via neutrino oscillations are very closely related to each other. By determining the allowed ranges of the parameters in the models, we predict the sizes of CP violation in neutrino oscillation and |V M N S e3 |. Finally, the leptonic unitarity triangles are reconstructed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
