Introdução: A Pseudomonas aeruginosa é uma bactéria causadora de infecções hospitalares principalmente em pacientes imunossuprimidos podendo ocasionar infecções oportunistas. Objetivo: Descrever o perfil de resistência antimicrobiana da Pseudomonas aeruginosa e os principais sítios de infecção de amostras colhidas de pacientes internados na UTI´s para pediátricos e adultos de uma unidade de referência em doenças tropicais no Amazonas. Metodologia: Pesquisa retrospectiva, descritiva realizada a partir da coleta de dados existentes nas planilhas de notificação de Infecção Relacionadas a Assistência à Saúde-IRAS existentes no banco de dados da Comissão de Controle de Infecção Hospitalar-CCIH. Resultados: No período de doze meses foram notificadas 42 infecções intra-hospitalares, destas, 6,7% foram causadas por Pseudomonas aeruginosa resistente aos carbapenêmicos (imipenem e/ou meropenem) e a maioria ocorreram nas enfermarias (49,7%) mas houve um número bem expressivos de casos na UTI para pacientes adultos (34,6%) e o sitio mais acometido foi o trato respiratório (62,5%). Conclusão: A redução de infecções graves em pacientes internados com P.aeruginosa depende do início rápido da terapia antimicrobiana e adequada, para isso, requer atividade de vigilância da resistência farmacológica em cada instituição afim de evitar cepas altamente resistentes aos fármacos utilizados.
Introdução: As doenças infectocontagiosas são aquelas de fácil e rápida transmissão, provocadas por agentes patogênicos. Objetivo: Descrever as dez doenças infectocontagiosas com maior persistência no Amazonas registradas no hospital de referência entre os anos de 2018 a 2021 enfatizando os possíveis fatores de risco facilitadores da cadeia de transmissão. Delineamento: Estudo retrospectivo, descritivo com abordagem quantitativa. Resultados: foram registradas no período um total de 34.537 doenças infecciosas e parasitarias e outros agravos, destes, 1.472 (4,2%) evoluíram para óbitos. No período foram registrados dois surtos: o primeiro foi o de sarampo em 2018 com 578 casos sem nenhum óbito, o segundo de varíola do macaco (Monkeypox) em 2022 com 107 casos nenhum óbito e uma pandemia causada pelo Corona Vírus (SarCov2) que iniciou no final de 2019 e se estende até a presente data com registro de 2.222 casos somente nesta instituição de saúde com 138 (6,2%) óbitos. Implicações: Caso não haja medidas efetivas para diminuir a transmissibilidade dessa patologias, a persistência das mesmas pode ter impacto direto no aumento dos gastos públicos e também na qualidade de vida e na produtividade que cada pessoa pode desempenhar no mercado e na sociedade.
