The aim of the study was to determine the spread of pathogens of parasitic diseases in the digestive organs of rabbits in farms of various forms of ownership in Odesa Region. One thousand and two hundred rabbits of different age groups in specialized farms (which they use cage keeping of animals in compliance with all zoohygienic requirements and a balanced feeding ration), as well as 582 rabbits in private farms (which the type of feeding was mixed) were examined. Prevalence of parasitic infections of rabbits in specialized farms is 52.3%, in household farms — 85.1%. In specialized farms, prevalence of cysticercosis is 2.6% (with intensity of 3–7 cysticerci), eimeriosis — 14.0%, trichostrongylosis — 13.6%, and passalurosis — 20.6%, two-component (eimeriosis + cysticercosis) infection —1.0%, three-component (eimeriosis + cysticercosis + passalurosis) infection — 0.5%, total infestation (both mono- and mixed infections) with cysticerci — 4.1%. In homestead farms, prevalence of cysticercosis is 27.7% (with intensity of 21–64 cysticerci), eimeriosis — 15.6%, trichostrongylosis — 3.6%, and passalurosis — 6.7%, two-component (eimeriosis + cysticercosis) infection —24.2%, three-component (eimeriosis + cysticercosis + passalurosis) infection — 7.2%, total infestation (both mono- and mixed infections) with cysticerci — 59.1%. Cysticercosis is a common infection of rabbits in Odesa Region, which occurs often as part of mixed infections with pathogens eimeriosis and pasalurosis. The total infestation of rabbits with cysticerci in homestead farms was 55.0% higher than in specialized ones. One-component infestations in specialized farms is 97.1% of sick rabbits, and in homestead farms — 63.0%; two-component (eimeriosis + cysticercosis) infection — 1.9% and 28.5%, respectively; and three-component (eimeriosis + cysticercosis + passalurosis) infection — 1.0% and 8.5%, respectively
Purpose. To enlight the life and creative path of a prominent scientist in the field of plant genetics and selection Academician O.O. Sozinov, to summarize his scientific initiatives, achievements in the development of agricultural research in Ukraine. Methods. General scientific-analysis, synthesis, classification; historical-problem-chronological, comparatively historical, retrospective, biographical. Results. The contribution of the scientist to the formation of leading sectoral scientific institutions and organizations-the Selection and Genetic Institute-NSC of Seed Science and Variety Research of NAAS, Institute of General Genetics named after M.I. Vavylov, VASGNIL, NAAS, and others. The role of O.O. Sozinov's scientific school in the development of the basics of plant biochemical and molecular genetics is shown. Conclusions. The scientific heritage of the scientist has been systematized in the following fields: genetics and selection, biology and morphology, anatomy and cytology of plants, agro phytocoenoses, agrobiotechnology, ecological problems of agriculture, seed production, problems of genomics.
The main points of the biography of the famous Ukrainian entomologist Alexander Putchkov are presented. The results of his scientific, social and organizational work are summed up. The list of the 142 main scientific publications of A. Putchkov are attached.
The paper presents data on the positive effect of the inactivated vaccine against contagious agalactia of sheep and goats developed in the National Scientific Center ‘Institute of Experimental and Clinical Veterinary Medicine’ (Kharkiv, Ukraine) on the biochemical and immunological parameters of sheep blood serum. It has been proved that the vaccine is not reactogenic, does not have immunosuppressive action and corrects the recovery of serum albumin concentration in vaccinated sheep, namely by reducing α-globulins by 28.5% and β-globulins by 36.8% and has a positive effect on the growth of γ-globulin by 31.5%, activating the humoral level of immunity
The article covers the main stages of life and scientific activity of Ivan Tymofiiovych Nechval, Doctor of Science (Veterinary Medicine), director of Odessa Scientific-Research Veterinary Station (1970–1989). His scientific and administrative experience in veterinary medicine is over 60 years. The main area of scientific work was the epizootiology of tuberculosis of animals, measures for prevention and control of this infection. His scientific achievements are 82 scientific works on infectious animal diseases (books, brochures, guidelines, articles, instructions and guidelines). System of measures on prevention and control of tuberculosis of cattle and pigs, developed by I. T. Nechval, were of practical use and were included in the Instructions “On measures for the prevention and recovery of livestock from tuberculosis” (1997), some fragments of works were used in reports at scientific and practical conferences
