In most countries of the world, infectious diseases of bees are an important problem for beekeeping, as they lead to a decrease and decrease in the number of bee colonies, a negative impact on the environment, a decrease in the yield of entomophilic crops and the overall productivity of the industry as a whole. According to data from statistical reporting and scientific publications, American and European flocks, ascospheros are registered in apiaries almost all over the world: in Western and Eastern Europe, North and Central America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, Africa, in the CIS countries. The change in the epizootic situation in bee-keeping is associated with the widespread spread of the varioise invasion, which causes a steady increase in the incidence of bee infestation by infectious diseases, so the effect of this invasion on the intensity of the epizootic process requires constant monitoring research. Among the topical tasks of the veterinary support of the beekeeping industry in the improvement of the system of antiepizootic measures, the differential diagnosis of infectious diseases of the breeding pedigree in the mixed forms of their manifestation was very important. The difficulty in making the correct diagnosis in mixed forms of the course of infectious diseases leads to inadequate and untimely conduct of treatment and preventive measures, and as a consequence, to the weakening and death of bees. In this regard, the development of an epizootiological monitoring system aimed at recording and evaluating changes in the epizootic state of apiaries, the identification of sources and reservoirs of pathogens, the motive forces of the epizootic process and the forms of the disease, and the organization of a system of effective preventive, medical and veterinary-sanitary measures on the apiaries. In the period of economic transformations in the agrarian-industrial complex there was a lack of breeding of beekeeping farms and apiaries, a system of management of the industry and a form of ownership changed, all this created a qualitatively new environment of the bee colony and contributed to the evolution of the epizootic process in infectious diseases – the development of mixed infections. In connection with this, there was a need to improve the system of epidemiological surveillance in beekeepers and to introduce a more effective comprehensive system of measures for the prevention and control of infectious diseases of the breeding bee, in particular, American rot, varrosis and other contagious diseases of bees.
The aim of the study was to determine the effectiveness of the drug "Cobazin" on the productivity of bee colonies during the increase in strength (increase in the number of young bees in the bee colony) in spring and autumn. Materials and methods. Control and experimental groups were formed to test "Cobazin" feed supplement. It was fed 5 times with an interval of 5 days. Bee colonies from the control group received a pure sugar solution (1:1) in the amount of 0.5 liters per bee colony, and the experimental group received a sugar solution of 0.5 liters per bee colony (1:1) with the addition of the drug "Cobazin" in the amount of 2.5 g. Indicators characterizing the development of bee colonies were determined by a measuring frame of 5x5 cm in size, for 12 days to cover the total number of eggs laid by the queen bee during feeding. Four measurements were performed during the study. The results of the control and experimental groups were compared and the significance of the differences between them was established. There was a comparison of the difference between groups of bees both fed pure sugar syrup in a ratio of 1:1 and syrup with the addition of the drug "Cobazin". Results. It is proved that during the feeding period the number of brood in bee colonies that received feed supplement "Cobazin" increased significantly by 76 % (71 % in the group that received only sugar solution without this drug). Live weight of queen bees in colonies that were stimulated with "Cobazin" was actually 2 % higher compared to the control group. It was found that at the end of the bee season, bee colonies fed in May with the feed supplement "Cobazin" had significantly higher values of strength, number of sealed brood and live queen bees compared to those who received pure sugar solution. The brood in the control group was 25 % lower than in the experimental group. Conclusions. For the first time it was proved that the use of feed supplement "Cobazin" in combination with sugar solution has a positive effect on the features that characterize the development of bee colonies (strength, number of sealed brood) and their health productivity. The positive impact is observed not only during feeding, but also in subsequent periods of colony development.
European Union law requires the destruction of all infected hives and equipment. In the United States, many state apiary inspectors require that a diseased AFB hive be completely burned. Spores can persist for up to 40 years and are difficult to destroy. A less radical method of curbing the spread of the disease is to burn only the frames and ridges (honeycomb tongues), as well as careful flame heating of the inner part of the hive body, bottom, hive flaps and lids. Immersion of parts of the hive in hot paraffin or 3% sodium hypochlorite solution (bleach) also makes AFB spores harmless. It is also possible to sterilize an infected hive without damaging either the structure of the hive or the supplies of honey and pollen it contains, by prolonged exposure to an atmosphere of ethylene oxide, both in a closed chamber and in hospitals when sterilizing equipment. which do not withstand steam sterilization. Pathogens are sensitive to many antibiotics of the tetracycline group, streptomycin, erythromycin, and other sulfonamide drugs (except M. plutonius), nitrofurans, and others. Antibiotics in the case of unstable strains of the pathogen can prevent the vegetative state of bacteria. Drug treatment to prevent successful germination and reproduction of American rot spores is possible using oxytetracycline hydrochloride (terramycin). Nowadays, antibiotic therapy is quite effective in use, but at the same time they are banned in the beekeeping industry, so antibiotic residues can be found in bee products, which in turn can be harmful to human health. Therefore, we have developed the drug "Apichels", which in previous studies has proven itself in the use against varroasis of bees in the spring. This drug has proven to be not only effective in use, but also quite carefree for both bees and humans, this is the basis of our previous research on the toxicity of bee products during the use of the drug, due to the components of its composition. All components are of plant origin, which is not included in the components that are prohibited and harmful to bees and humans. Thus, we decided to test this tool for effectiveness in preventive methods against American bee rot.
