All-optical XOR-, OR-, NOT-, and AND-gate were demonstrated for 10 Gb/s return-to-zero on-off keying (RZ-OOK) signals using a single experimental setup. This setup can be set to output different logic by altering input power, state-of-polarization, center frequencies of input optical signals, and/or input bitstreams. Full-width at half-maximum pulsewidth of the input and the output signals were less than 5.1 ps in all cases showing a possibility of higher data rate operation at 80Gb/s or beyond.
An all-optical half-adder has been successfully demonstrated using cross gain modulation (XGM) and four-wave mixing (FWM) in an optical parametric amplifier (OPA) on a highly-nonlinear dispersion-shifted fiber. Power penalty of less than 2dB was achieved.
We demonstrate all-optical XOR, OR, NOT, and AND gates in a fiber optical parametric amplifier within the same experimental setup. Error-free operation was achieved for 10Gb/s RZ signals with pulsewidth suitable for 100Gb/s operation.
We demonstrate a simple, two-stage optical pulse compressor based on optical parametric amplifier using single spool of highly nonlinear dispersion-shifted fiber. 112-pswide pulses are compressed to 24-ps Gaussian-shaped pulses with clear eye openings.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
