The metal carbonate, MCO 3 (M = Ca, Sr and Ba), was synthesized by a novel method of reacting aqueous solution of each of Ca 2+ , Sr 2+ and Ba 2+ salts with urea at high temperature, ~ 80°C. The reaction products were characterized through elemental analysis and infrared spectra. The infrared spectra of the products are the same as those of the corresponding commercially obtained carbonates. A general reaction describing the formation of MCO 3 is proposed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
