Un inventaire des Chironomidés de l'Oued Martil est effectué : 95 espèces ont été recensées dont 14 sont nouvellement citées pour le Maroc. Cet inventaire porte le total des espèces actuellement connues du Rif à 121 et celui du Maroc à 256. La majorité des espèces ont une large répartition paléarctique, 7 espèces ont distribution méditerranéenne ; 3 espèces sont afrotropicales et 2 espèces panpaléotropicales.

Nevertheless, there is a significant difference with the Sierra Nevada, nearer geographically, due to the different hydrological and physiographical conditions between the two prospected regions. The faunistic similarity among Moroccan rivers located in the Rif and the Upper Atlas is not so great but further samplings around these zones could increase considerably their specific similitude.
