ZusammenfassungOb Säuglingsschiefhals, juvenile idiopathische Skoliose, kindliches Wirbelgleiten oder die sogenannte Lehrlingskyphose: Unerkannt haben diese Symmetriestörungen und Achsabweichungen bei Kindern das Potenzial zu erheblichen Deformitäten während des weiteren Wachstumsverlaufes und müssen dementsprechend äußerst ernst genommen werden. Gerade Rückenschmerzen bei Kindern sind trotz Schulstress und schweren Bücherranzen zwar längst nicht mehr unbekannt, aber dennoch nach wie vor als ungewöhnlich zu betrachten und erfordern eine äußerst sorgfältige Differenzialdiagnose. Meist haben sie eine spezifische Erkrankung als Ursache. Leichte Rumpfasymmetrien werden häufig in den ersten Wachstumsjahren diagnostiziert und sind Anlass zu elterlicher Sorge: Zurecht, denn zwar haben leichte Asymmetrien meist keine Konsequenzen im weiteren Wachstumsverlauf, sofern Progredienzen ausgeschlossen werden können; aber dennoch sind die Kinder, bei denen dann doch starke Asymmetrien unter dem Deckmantel der Pubertät exazerbieren, mit lebenslangen Therapieproblemen behaftet.
