Application of electrical energy of the appropriate frequency dielectrically heats the ethanol without heating the molecular sieve. This causes the ethanol to be driven from the pores of the molecular sieve by a combination of vaporization and expulsion, resulting in a very rapid energy-efficient process. The carrier gas used to remove the desorbed chemical (ethanol) from the column is chosen to leave the molecular sieve in the best condition for the next cycle of sorption.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
