The development of Division 27 (Society for Community Research and Action: Division of Community Psychology) is closely intertwined with the evolution of the field of community psychology. The histories of each are best understood transactionally and cannot easily be teased apart. This integration of the guiding tenets of the field within the Society for Community Research and Action (SCRA) is evident in the organizational mission statement.
