There is a great concern from researchers, government, and professional bodies about how consumers, households, students and employees manage their finances. A great number of people from both developed and developing countries are reported to be financially illiterate. Employees today are facing serious challenges in financial decision making that seems to emanate from the changes in financial markets and in social security pension schemes. They have access to financial literacy sessions at their workplaces yet this is not always reflected in the kind of lives they live. This provokes the question ‘does a more financially literate employee enjoy better financial wellbeing than a less literate person?’ The current study therefore seeks to critically review the literature to establish the documented relationship between financial literacy and financial wellbeing and possible intervening and moderating variables. The existing literature gaps are identified and recommended for further research. The results from the literature review indicate that financial literacy and financial wellbeing are defined and measured differently. Additionally, there seem to be a positive relationship between financial literacy and financial wellbeing but this relationship is intervened and moderated by financial decisions and demographic factors respectively.

Main Objective of the Study: Examine the relationship among corporate governance, firm characteristics, external environment, and performance of financial institutions in Uganda. Value of the Study: The paper is expected to create value to different categories of groups like: the central bank, as a regulatory body; financial institutions that can benchmark with the views of different scholars; the public can make suitable decisions regarding choices where to bank and borrow; the academia in terms of research; and the government in terms of planning, policy formulation, and budgeting for the country. The paper is expected to make significant contributions to theory building by affirming to current theories. The purpose of this study was to establish the relationship between internal audit and organisational performance of Kenyan WSPs. To fulfil the study objective, hypothesis was derived and tested on a population of 93 Water service providers. This cross sectional descriptive study was guided by a positivist study paradigm. The Data Envelopment Analysis approach was used to codify the dependent variable and regression analysis was then applied to test the hypothesis. The null hypothesis was rejected as the regression analysis found that 10.1% of variations in firm performance are explained by variation in internal audit while 89.9% of variations are explained by other variables. This infers that internal audit influences performance of Water service providers in Kenya. The study made contribution to policy formulation and development to benefit the understanding on how internal audit in the Kenyan context influence organizational performance resulting to formulation of reforms in various public institutions to strengthen internal audit.

The study sought to establish the relationship between debt knowledge and indebtedness in Kenya. Positivism paradigm was used in this study. The study adopted a cross sectional and correlational descriptive research design. The study targeted about 2.4 million employees in the formal sector. Three stage sampling was done, first, cluster sampling and then, stratified sampling and finally random sampling. The study used primary data collected by use of self-administered questionnaires. A pilot test of the questionnaire was conducted on 40 respondents to check its validity and reliability. 1000 questionnaires were circulated. Of the returned, 581 questionnaires were considered usable. Cronbach's alpha for likert type items was found reliable (over 0.7). Data analysis used IBM SPSS statistics 21 for descriptive and correlation analysis. Further, OLS Multiple regression models were used to examine the relationships between the independent variable and the dependent variable. The findings reveal that debt experience has a significant effect on indebtedness. Results also found that aggregated debt literacy only explain a mere 9.8 % of respondent's indebtedness. The study will help to buttress economic theories of borrowing. Further the government, policy makers, employers and scholars will benefit from the findings of the study. Future research should explore the effect of dimensions like debt attitude and financial socialization on indebtedness. Further, debt literacy for individuals in the informal sector need to be related to their indebtedness while the lenders' perspective need to be sought.
