This study examines the transformation of classroom dynamics brought about by the use of tablets for educational purposes. The empirical bases of this study were defined by the “Samsung Smart School” project, which was developed by Samsung and Spain’s Ministry of Education during academic year 2014-15, in which teachers and 5th and 6th year students attending 15 primary schools across several Autonomous Communities in Spain were provided with tablets. The research sample comprised 166 teachers. A qualitative analysis strategy was applied by means of: a) non-participant observation, b) focus groups, c) semi-structured interviews with teachers, and d) content analysis of teaching units. These techniques enabled us to extract and examine six dimensions of teaching (educational objective, teaching approach, organization of content and activities, teaching resources, space and time, and learning assessment). Our findings show that teachers tend to apply a transversal approach when using tablets to work on different competencies, focusing more on activities than on content through the use of apps. They reclaim the act of play as part of the learning process, and tablet use encourages project-based learning. To sum up, this study shows that teachers view tablets not only as a technological challenge, but also as an opportunity to rethink their traditional teaching models.
World requires people with knowledge, skills and attitudes that allow a full development of citizenship in a digital ecosystem. An educational response to this social demand is digital competence. Thus, this purpose requires optimal levels of Digital Teaching Competence (DTC), especially in the Vocational Education Training (VET) sector. With the aim of attending to this educational context, this work proposes a understanding framework that integrates the vision of pedagogy, resources and evaluation to understand, evaluate and propose improvements in the digital competence of VET teachers. Using a qualitative approach, eleven in-depth interviews were conducted on the DTC of VET teachers in the province of Valencia (Spain). These data were analysed from the categorization of 4 educational scenarios with technology (individual learning, teaching with ICT, collaborative learning and student self-learning). The main conclusion detected is that interviewed teachers have knowledge of some technological resources and applications, attitude and ability to incorporate them into their teaching practice. However, they do not integrate technology in the learning assessment at the same competence level as in the other dimensions.
Palabras claves: Competencia digital, Educación mediática, TIC, Perú Abstract:In 2017, a new national curriculum for compulsory education will be implemented in Peru. Among other changes, this document develops a specific competence on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). To contribute to the debate and introduce other frames of reference that enrich the analysis, this paper presents and analyzes the so-called ICT competence from the perspective of media education. In conclusion, media competence does not appear as such, however, some of its conceptual proposals are present throughout the curriculum, which opens an opportunity for the initial development of media education in the Peruvian context.

Formative models related to the theory of connectivism are increasingly flexible, open and participatory. Under this trend, ideas such as virtual teaching communities (VCT) or Open Educational Resources (OER) have been Widespread, which lead us to talk about online educational opportunities. Accordingly, this work seeks and analyzes the uses and potentialities of educational resources of free access in a VCT, while examining the meaning that members of that community give to the OER. In addition, a qualitative research procedure endorsed the development and validation of data-collection instruments, such as an interview and an indicator guide to analyze and evaluate the OER shared in a VCT, through participant observation, which is characterized by exchange processes and collaborative work among teachers. Among the main findings, it is observed that virtual communities have a greater presence in teacher training, where the impulse and expansion of OER is verified. These facts highlight the importance of the research field of flexible and open education with technology and particularly, the potential use of VCT, where OER have a special relevance in teacher training.
