El envejecimiento es un proceso complejo y de gran impacto, que está estrechamente relacionado con el estrés oxidativo y la generación de especies reactivas de oxígeno (del inglés ROS). El papel de las ROS en el envejecimiento ha sido motivo de controversia; no obstante, su implicación en este fenómeno es clara, de modo que se espera que su estudio proporcione nuevas perspectivas en el abordaje de un proceso que no sólo es un factor de riesgo para múltiples enfermedades, sino que además, nos atañe a todos.
Los virus de plantas han desarrollado estrategias de evasión del silenciamiento genético, la principal vía de defensa ante patógenos intracelulares. Existen dos fenómenos de silenciamiento de RNA en plantas, el silenciamiento génico transcripcional y el silenciamiento génico postranscripcional, que se lleva a cabo gracias a proteínas Dicer y RNAs de pequeño tamaño. Para hacer frente a estas defensas, los virus de plantas presentan diversas estrategias, entre las que destacan las proteínas supresoras del silenciamiento.
Este artículo reporta una experiencia pedagógica que tuvo por objetivo fortalecer las competencias de lectura crítica en inglés a través de un Recurso Educativo Digital (RED). La muestra fue de 20 estudiantes de quinto de primaria, con edad promedio de 9.5 años, pertenecientes a una institución educativa colombiana. La investigación fue cuasiexperimental, de tipo inductivo y bajo un enfoque mixto. Los resultados indican una mejoría en el desempeño de los estudiantes, ya que todos aprobaron el cuestionario final a diferencia del cuestionario inicial, obteniendo un alto rango de ganancia de aprendizaje, con un factor de Hake de 0.928. Los estudiantes consideraron que el RED es excelente, ya que el diseño, los contenidos, las actividades y los juegos son apropiados para aprender a leer correctamente en inglés. Se concluye que el RED y la estrategia didáctica utilizada fueron efectivos para fortalecer la lectura crítica en inglés, en cuanto a las competencias de interpretación de textos, imágenes y gráficos.
