Neste artigo, apresento uma análise acerca dos elementos que, na Apologia e no Cármides, de Platão, ligam os personagens Sócrates e Querefonte no que concerne à prática dialógica filosófica. Assim, pretendo demonstrar que, de acordo com uma argumentação que parte desses dois textos, de um lado, Querefonte foi figura imprescindível para que Sócrates estabelecesse o diálogo como essência de sua filosofia, na medida em que a consulta que fizera ao oráculo de Delfos foi o ponto de partida para que a investigação socrática tal como a que temos delineada nos diálogos se concretizasse. De outro lado, diferentemente dos seguidores de Sócrates, Querefonte é um personagem que apresenta dedicação à filosofia com certa independência intelectual em relação ao seu amigo, manifestando, assim, ações que expressam a liberdade de pensamento que desfruta e, portanto, o coloca em pé de igualdade a Sócrates. Nesse sentido, caracterizar Querefonte como filósofo tal qual Sócrates pode nos fazer avançar na compreensão sobre o uso do diálogo socrático como ferramenta pedagógico-filosófica, destinada aqueles que, diferentemente de Querefonte, não são capazes ainda de filosofarem por si mesmos.
O presente artigo busca analisar a maneira pela qual a noção de míasma se mostra indispensável para a compreensão do contágio e da peste em Édipo Rei. Para tanto, tratar-se-á de alguns excertos homéricos que demonstram a relação dos personagens com a purificação das mãos antes de ações cultuais, de um lado e, de outro lado, a abordagem que Ésquilo e Sófocles conferem sobre as noções de pureza e impureza. Por fim, será aprofundada a dimensão catastrófica que o míasma pode alcançar, por meio da tragédia Édipo Rei. Desse modo, busca-se sustentar a tese de que a peste contagiosa, em Édipo Rei, é fruto da própria sujeira do personagem-título, sujeira essa para a qual Édipo não providenciou uma limpeza adequada. Nesse sentido, procura-se desvincular da peça a noção de castigo divino, para sustentar que, na tragédia, o sangue possui extrema força como veículo de contaminação.
O presente artigo propõe a discussão acerca das relações de poder estabelecidas pelos personagens Hipólito e Teseu, da tragédia Hipólito, de Eurípides. Nesse sentido, tendo como pano de fundo as considerações de Max Weber e Émile Benveniste para o uso do termo poder, pretendo demonstrar de que modo, no drama, a sanção da morte de Hipólito deve, necessariamente, ficar a cargo de Teseu, uma vez que este é o único personagem que, no contexto político da peça, detém legitimamente o poder sobre todos aqueles que estão sob seu domínio. Portanto, se, de um lado, no prólogo, Afrodite apresenta aos espectadores todo o desenvolvimento da tragédia, demonstrando sua atuação direta na ruína da família de Hipólito, de outro lado, Eurípides, de modo verossimilhante, vale-se da legitimidade do poder real de Teseu para selar com o veredito político humano a vontade da deusa Cípris.
