The university and the labor market are closely related, both in terms of formative function, but especially, nowadays, in terms of economic role. Academic curricula can no longer be conceived effectively and pragmatically, without consulting employers on the type and level of skills of graduate students and taking into consideration the current labor market demands. From this perspective, several aspects like organizing the internship, the content, the volume and the quality of the specialized practice are current issues on the agenda of the cooperation among institutions responsible for training future specialists. Our study aims to analyze the first results obtained at Vasile Alecsandri University of Bacau within the 2018 FDI Project CECIM -Efficient Communication and Educational Counselling for Integration on the Labor Market. In July 2018, a round table was organized at the university, on the subject "New Partnerships -New Opportunities for students"; more than 40 employers participated at this event. The discussions were conducted by applying a guided interview to the employers. The current study focusses on the employers" view regarding the best opportunities and the pressing difficulties that may occur during the internships and that may affect the students" professional practice. The data analysis of the 26 employers" point of view may represent, for the university, a chance to reorganize and restructure its approach to students" professional practice in collaboration with economic agents. The results reveal the reality of the current relation between the university and employers concerning students" professional practice and new possibilities for further collaboration.
The educational area is a social sector where the COVID-19 pandemic impact involves making many exponential changes. In many countries, the transition from face-to-face education to on-line education implies a revolution in the hierarchy of job domains/jobs offer. Young people’s career plans may be different under the impact of internal and external factors generated by this new context. Theoretical framework revealed that under the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the career decision-making process becomes more difficult to assume by taking into consideration the job nature, the sense of belonging, and the balance between passions and risks involved. By referring to these aspects a question arises: Will the pandemic also create a crisis in the career-making decision process for young people? The research group consisted of 108 undergraduates' from 12 grades, attending high schools from cities under 10,000 inhabitants. Hypothesis: There is a tendency to focus on training areas dominated by the practical aspects than the theoretical one as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We used a Romanian adapted version of the Myer-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Questionnaire used in counseling and carrier orientation services for identification of professional interests of the students. The obtained results show that it is important for high school students to receive quality services for carrier guidance and psycho-educational support to prevent over-introversion and over-critical attitude about others and themselves, self-isolation correlated with a high level of sensing and sensitiveness.
The paper investigates the slogans released by political parties during the elections for the Romanian Parliament in 2016, by addressing the way they have been perceived by both political analysts and students enrolled in communication programs. We aim to see how two different target audience evaluate the slogans and how they refer to them. Also, we are interested to see what the students remember about the slogans after six months after the end of the campaign, in order to explore if their memories about the slogans had any connection with the political analysts comments made during the elections.
This study explores the offline and online communication skills of students in higher education. A total of 402 bachelor’s and master’s students from different study programs participated in the survey, such as education sciences, philology, communication sciences, and public relations. The evaluation was based on the scale of online and offline communication skills, which included four components: sociability, emotion decoding, self-disclosure, and assertiveness. The Mann–Whitney nonparametric statistical method was applied to examine the potential differences between the online and offline communication skills of students for the assessed variables of sociability, emotion detection, self-disclosure, and assertiveness. The statistical data analysis led to the following results: significantly higher online sociability; significantly higher online assertiveness; significantly higher offline emotion detection; significantly higher offline self-disclosure; bachelor’s students had significantly higher online skills than master’s students; and there were many differences between the various fields of specialization.
