Introduction the oncological patient submitted to ostomy faces multiple losses which affect their quality of life. Objective: assess quality of life in ostomized patients due to colorectal cancer, regarding the physical, psychological, social and environmental relationships, treated at the Ostomy Program of the Health Department of Distrito Federal, Brazil. Methods: epidemiological-based, analytical, cross-sectional and descriptive study. The sample consisted of 54 patients enrolled in the Ostomy Program of the Health Department of Distrito Federal - Brazil. The WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire was used to evaluate quality of life. Data was analyzed by Microsoft ® Office Excel 2010 and SPSS 20.0. Results: the Physical, Social and Environmental aspects were correlated to the mean score, resulting in statistical significance (p<0.0001). The item “Positive feelings” in the Psychological Domain was the only one that did not achieve statistical significance. Conclusion: the results demonstrate that the care of cancer patients with ostomies should focus on the technical-scientific, political and socio-educational actions, to allow a multidisciplinary team to recognize health as a right for all, working to guarantee the health care process.
Introduction the making of a stoma may result in adverse effects on the social and psychological dimensions, affecting relationships with family and friends, at work and in sexual activity. Objective to analyze the perceptions of ostomized women regarding sexual activity as an important dimension of quality of life and in the care process. Methods cross-sectional, descriptive epidemiological study. A sample of 40 patients enrolled in the Ostomized Patient Program of Health Secretariat of the Federal District – Brazil was assessed through a demographic and clinical questionnaire and personal interviews. Data were analyzed using the software programs Microsoft® Office Excel 2010 and SPSS (Statistical Package of the Social Sciences, SPSS Inc, Chicago, USA) for Windows 20.0. Statistical significance was set at 5%. Results ostomized women face several adaptation and rehabilitation problems that interfere with social relationships and, consequently, with body image and self-esteem, which reflects on the sexual activity. Conclusion the results show the need for health professionals involved with these patients to have a wider view on the making of the stoma, their sequelae and rehabilitation, to ensure the process of care that will improve the quality of life of ostomized women.

This involves practicing focusing on the quality of life of oncological stomized people. Objective To analyze quality of life of oncological stomized people from the Health Department, the Federal District, Brazil, from the perspective of integrality of the Unified Health System in Brazil. Methods Cross-sectional, exploratory and descriptive study with a quantitative and qualitative approach in the light of a content analysis. This was a convenience sample, including 120 patients registered in the Stomized People Program of the Health Department, the Federal District, Brazil. In this study, sociodemographic, clinical, and WHOQOL-bref questionnaires and an individual interview were used. Data were analyzed by Microsoft® Office Excel 2010 program and SPSS 20.0 software. Statistical significance was accepted at 5%. Results Physical, Social Affairs, and Environment domains are correlated with the mean score, with statistically significant results (p < 0.0001), the content analysis resulted in three categories: complications with the stoma, self-care, and Comprehensive health care. Conclusion Our results highlight the need to realize the integrality as a principle at various levels of discussion and of the practice of health care for stomized oncological people.
Introduction For ostomized oncological patients, the physical body alterations affects the quality of life, as the changes in the self-concept are factors that directly affect the sexual life. Methods Epidemiological-based study, of the analytical type, with a cross-sectional descriptive design, with quantitative and qualitative approach considering the content analysis. The convenience sample included 56 participants. Sociodemographic, clinical, and the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaires were used, as well as an individual interview. Data were analyzed by Microsoft Office Excel 2010 and SPSS 20.0 software. Statistical significance was set at 5%. Results The Physical, Social Relations and Environment Domains are correlated with the mean score, statistical significance (p < 0.0001), and the content analysis resulted in five categories: Ostomy, Self-Care, Acceptance, Self-concept, and Companionship. Sample consisted of convenience, included 120 participants. They used the questionnaires sociodemographic, clinical, and WHOQOL-BREF and an individual interview. Data were analyzed by Microsoft Office Excel 2010 and SPSS 20.0 software. Statistical significance was accepted at 5%. Results Physical Domains, Social Affairs and Environment are correlated with the mean score, statistically significant (p < 0.0001), the content analysis resulted in four categories: Wellness Physical, Psychological Wellness, Wellness and Spiritual Well living Social. Conclusion Ostomy and colorectal cancer may represent suffered mutilation, loss of productive capacity resulting in the loss of quality of life.
Evidence shows that there is association between the quality of life (QoL) of ostomized patients and the results of WHOQOL-bref questionnaire. Mensurable knowledge regarding facets and dimension of the mentioned questionnaire is highly valuable for guidance involving the multidisciplinary crew for nursing care, taken into consideration that specialized care has major influence on the QoL scores. To better assess which of these facets are strongly correlated to tue questionnaire dimensions targeting its identification and the development of internal guidelines take advantage of such information aiming to improve QoL on the one hundred and six patients served by the Ambulatory Care Program for ostomy patients in the Federal District Health Secretariat, Brazil. The questionnaire scores where correlated to the several dimensions in order to pinpoint which of those has major contribution on patients QoL, by generating correlation coefficient (square r) and t-student tests. The facets of Physical Domains, Social Affairs and Environment are correlated with the mean score, resulting in statistically significant associations (p < .0001). The awareness about ostomy patients' reality may result in effective comprehensive health care of the person with ostomy, and the consequent improvement of their QoL, resulting in a process of care in health nursing, which may impact the patient's the ability to socialize and interact, reducing the impact of depression events and its consequences as well as improving the general well being of the patient in terms of self body image and self esteem as required by the Integral health care policy. Thus, the nursing care process becomes an active and continuous act demanding special actions and behaviors targeting the improvement of human potentials, focusing on enhancing the dignity of the ostomized person, for which the nursing care process is fundamental for recovering the QoL scores to better and higher levels.
Validation of the Work Limitations Questionnaire in Brazilian Army military personnel Objective. To validate the Work Limitations Questionnaire (WLQ) to measure presenteeism in Brazilian military personnel. Methods. This is a test validation study conducted with 125 individuals of a military staff attending a Brazilian Army Unit. We applied a form with demographic and occupational variables and the WLQ, composed of 25 items. The construct validity was assed trough confirmatory factorial analysis. Results. We confirmed the interdependent structure of the WLQ´s domains for explaining the presenteeism of the sample in four domains: outcome demand, mental demand, physical demand and time management. Most of items showed factorial loads between 0.5 and 0.7 and the adjustment (absolute and incremental) and residues indexes demonstrated satisfactory values. The Alphas in domains ranged from 0.68 (output demand) to 0.79 (time management) in domains, evidencing reliability 1 Nurse, PhD. Nurse of the Brazilian Army. São Gabriel (RS), Brazil.
