PREFÁCIODiante dos desafios contemporâneos, o livro "Planejamento e Gestão Territorial: Gestão Integrada do Território" trata de temática oportuna, na qual conciliar desenvolvimento e conservação ambiental merece destaque.O território, enquanto espaço concreto, apresenta-se como laboratório de experimentações de alternatividades, nas palavras de Boaventura de Sousa Santos, 1 ou de ecossocioeconomias, segundo Ignacy Sachs, 2 e bem viver, complementando esses dois expoentes, segundo Sampaio et al., 3 para evidenciar a interconectividade entre sistemas sociais e ecológicos.É no território onde as pessoas nascem, crescem, estudam, trabalham, vivem, amam e morrem. Ainda que a vida humana se limite à escala do tempo biológico, no território, o que acontece com um ser, sucessivamente, deflagra em seu descendente e em outros, e assim reverbera no planeta. 4 Assim, ainda que o território tenha uma dinâmica própria, não está desconectado de outras escalas espaciais -região, país, continente -e do próprio planeta.Dessa maneira, a desigualdade que se vê em residências de um mesmo bairro, vê-se também em nível global. Segundo o Relatório sobre Desenvolvimento Humano 2015 5 , 16% da população do planeta concentram 67% da renda bruta. Para exemplificar tal efeito, os países com maior e menor expectativa de vida -Hong Kong com 84 anos e Suazilândia com 49 -possuem renda, Produto Interno Bruto e Índice de Desenvolvimento Humano inversamente proporcionais. Se não bastasse tal disparidade, esses mesmos 16% concentram 57% do lançamento de dióxido de carbono (CO 2 ) de todo o planeta. Sob tal constatação, questiona-se: que desenvolvimento é esse?Tal cenário justifica a contribuição dos 23 capítulos aqui organizados, que refletem diálogos e interações entre o corpo docente e discente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciências Ambientais e seus colaboradores -externos à Universidade do Extremo Sul Catarinense (UNESC) -, os quais relatam seus esforços de conhecimento, compreensão, proposição e ação no território.Cabe ressaltar a importância de universidades comunitárias -como a UNESC, localizada no município de Criciúma, Santa Catarina -, que desenvolvem ações para o fortalecimento do território e de suas paisagens.Não querendo roubar o protagonismo dos organizadores, finalizo convidando os leitores a realizarem esta viagem para conhecer a obra, sob a organização dos amigos Nilzo Ivo Ladwig e Hugo Schwalm. Este estudo analisou a estrutura da paisagem de duas microbacias hidrográficas contíguas, localizadas na região sul do estado de Santa Catarina, Brasil, no intuito de avaliar o cenário atual da fragmentação estrutural florestal. Foi utilizada imagem fotogramétrica ortorretificada, escala de 1:10000, datada de 2011 para a interpretação das classes de cobertura e uso da terra e produção de mapas temáticos com auxílio do software ArcGis versão 10.3.1. Os arquivos vetoriais dos mapas temáticos produzidos foram importados no software Fragstats versão 4.2, que gerou o relatório das métricas da paisagem. Foram identificadas seis classes de cobertura e uso da terra que juntas somam 649 fragmentos distribuídos em 4453,9 ha. Os fragmentos florestais ocuparam 45% da área total mapeada e cerca de 90% deles tinham área menor do que 6,45 ha. O índice de forma média dos fragmentos florestais foi de 2,2ha, o que evidencia bordas altamente recortadas. A distribuição espacial destes fragmentos indica alto grau de conectividade estrutural. Embora grande parte da área das duas microbacias esteja ocupada por formações florestais e a conectividade estrutural seja elevada, a perda de habitat resultante das ações antrópicas foi maior do que 50%, o que sugere que tanto os fragmentos maiores quanto os menores em conjunto devem ser motivo de conservação.
