RESUMOOs produtos naturais ganham cada dia mais adeptos, o que exige dos profissionais de saúde um conhecimento mais aprimorado sobre o assunto. Seguindo esse pressuposto, esta pesquisa teve como objetivo avaliar o uso de produtos naturais na prática dos profissionais de saúde. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de caráter quantitativo, com delineamento transversal, exploratória, não experimental, realizada através de entrevista aplicando-se um questionário contendo perguntas abertas e/ou fechadas, abordando indagações referentes ao conhecimento dos profissionais de saúde de 13 Programas Saúde da Família (PSF's) da cidade de Rondonópolis (MT). Dos 64 entrevistados, 60,9% informaram saber a diferença entre planta medicinal e fitoterápico, 67,2% confiam parcialmente nos efeitos, 57,8% desconhecem os riscos do uso indiscriminado e 63,6% não prescrevem tais produtos. Considerando os resultados obtidos, verifica-se o desconhecimento e/ou despreparo dos profissionais em relação aos fitoterápicos e plantas medicinais, sendo necessário mais informação à respeito dos seus efeitos farmacológico e tóxicos, minimizando os riscos à saúde da população. Following this assumption, this study aimed to evaluate the use of natural products in the practice of health professionals. It is a search for quantitative trait, cross, exploratory, non-experimental design, conducted through interviews applying a questionnaire containing open and / or closed questions, addressing questions regarding the knowledge of health professionals 13 Health Programs (PSF's) city of Rondonópolis (MT). Of the 64 respondents, 60.9% did not know the difference between herbal and medicinal plants, 67.2% partially rely on effects, 57.8% are unaware of the risks of indiscriminate and 63.6% do not prescribe such products. Considering these results, it is the ignorance and / or lack of preparation of the professionals regarding herbal and medicinal plants, more information is needed about pharmacological and toxic effects, minimizing risks to public health.
A utilização de plantas em práticas populares é conhecida desde a pré-história, e, atualmente, tem sido denominada como medicina complementar de saúde. Na última década, foi observado um aumento no uso de práticas terapêuticas alternativas apoiadas por políticas no âmbito do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS); em particular, o uso de plantas medicinais e de fitoterápicos. Neste contexto, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o consumo de plantas medicinais e fitoterápicos por usuários cadastrados nas Estratégias de Saúde da Família do município de Rondonópolis, MT. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de caráter quantitativo, com delineamento transversal, exploratória, não experimental em que foram realizadas entrevistas por meio de questionários. Do total de 71 pessoas entrevistadas, 63% não sabem a diferença entre fitoterápicos e plantas medicinais, 58% conhecem as diferentes formas de uso das plantas, 45% utilizam o chá e a parte da planta preferida pelos consumidores são as folhas (59%). Aproximadamente 44% não realizaram nenhum tipo de consulta antes do consumo e 48 pessoas fizeram uso concomitante aos medicamentos sintéticos. Considerando os resultados obtidos, verifica-se que pode haver aumento dos riscos de intoxicação e reações adversas e demonstram a necessidade de orientação correta e precisa a respeito do uso dos produtos naturais.
