Este, caracterizou-se como um estudo preliminar em que a erva-mate apresentou propriedades terapêuticas como a capacidade antibacteriana e antifúngica, mas também indicou, que a erva-mate pode ser citotóxica, portanto, novos estudos para avaliar os possíveis efeitos colaterais e até mesmo carcinogênicos do consumo da erva-mate são necessários.
