So dient das Theater der frühen Neuzeit, etwa in den Aufführungen der Sachs'schen Dramen, der stimmlichen Vermittlung eines antiken literalen Wissens in die Mündlichkeit einer noch nicht literalisierten Kultur (vgl. Epping-Jäger 1996; f I.2 Mündlichkeit/Schriftlichkeit). Zugleich spielen die indexikalischen, rhetorischen und medialen Momente der Stimme eine konstitutive Rolle in den verschiedenen Formen der Dichterlesung (f II.11).
