Die Frage, was es mit einer Ethik in pädagogischen Beziehungen auf sich hat, verweist nicht nur auf weitere Fragen wie etwa die Grundfrage jeder Ethik, von welchem rational begründbaren Fundament moralischen Handelns dabei ausgegangen werden soll, sie scheint auch eine Implikation zu beinhalten, die Annahme nämlich, dass es neben einer allgemeinen Ethik auch eine pädagogische Ethik gibt, analog zu den vielen Bereichs-bzw. Bindestrichethiken, die sich heute in Einführungen in die Angewandte Ethik finden lassen (vgl. etwa Pieper & Thurnherr 1998). Offen bleibt schließlich, was denn unter Beziehungen, mithin unter pädagogischen Beziehungen, zu verstehen sei. Im Folgenden wird grob skizziert, welche Themen und Fragen mit den Begriffen Ethik bzw. Moral aufgerufen werden und auf welche unterschiedlichen Weisen der Ausdruck pädagogische Ethik bestimmt werden kann. Schließlich wird die ethische Brisanz, die in der Gestaltung der pädagogischen Beziehung liegt, an den Ambivalenzen der Regulation von Nähe und Distanz verdeutlicht und ein Überblick über die Beiträge des vorliegenden Bandes gegeben. Zwar ist die Abgrenzung des griechischen Begriffs Ethik von seiner lateinischen Übersetzung, der Moral, nicht zwingend, doch hat sich als Sprachgewohnheit eingebürgert, Ethik eher mit der wissenschaftlichen Disziplin, insbesondere einer philosophischen, im Kern meta-ethischen Theorie von ‚Moral und Sitten' in Verbindung zu bringen, während mit ‚Moral und Sitten' der Gegenstand dieser Disziplin verbunden wird und zwar einerseits in einem deskriptiven Sinn, als Inbegriff von empirisch vorfindlichen Gewohnheiten, Sitten, Normen-und Wertsystemen bzw. andererseits in einem präskriptiven Sinn als einer Verbindlichkeiten begründenden, normativen Ethik, die nach Prinzipien eines für alle guten Lebens bzw. dem Maßstab moralisch richtigen Handelns mithin einem Moralprinzip fragt (vgl. Höffe 2018, 10f; Pieper & Thurnherr 1998, 10). Als spezifischer Reflexionsmodus hat Moral dann den Charakter eines begründeten Sollens, eines Imperativs, d.h. es verbinden sich mit ihr (An-)Forderungen an das Handeln etwa in Form von Fragen, ob dieses Handeln als richtig oder falsch, angemessen oder unangemessen, geboten oder zu unterlassen usw. zu bewerten ist.
