En Colombia, los procedimientos realizados en los salones de belleza son vigilados por el estado a través de la Secretaría de Salud, quienes verifican el cumplimiento de protocolos estipulados en el manual de Bioseguridad. Este estudio, que se realizó en trece salones de belleza de un municipio de Cundinamarca, tuvo como objetivo verificar si los protocolos de higiene, desinfección y esterilidad para los utensilios empleados se han implementado correctamente de acuerdo a la Resolución 2827 de 2006, previa capacitación impartida a la comunidad de estilistas por la subsecretaría de salud pública y bienestar social del municipio.<p>Se tomaron cuatro muestras, correspondiente a cuatro utensilios diferentes en cada salón de belleza. Mediante la técnica de escobillón estéril, se realizó siembra en medio de cultivo líquido, se verificó el crecimiento bacteriano con análisis macro y microscópico, se realizó aislamiento en medios selectivos y diferenciales y se hizo identificación bioquímica, permitiendo confirmar la presencia de bacterias como <em>Staphylococcus epidermidis, Escherichia coli, Citrobacter freundii, Klebsiella oxytoca y Pseudomonas aeruginosa, </em>entre otros microorganismos oportunistas. Estos pueden llegar a producir infecciones que sugieren deficiencias en el proceso de asepsia e higiene.</p>
