The present study focuses on Auristela, the female protagonist of the Persiles by Miguel de Cervantes. Around her a textual analysis is made, which aims to show the symbolism of the character, expressed through attributes of the Virgin Mary and the goddess Venus, that converge in Auristela. This convergence is explained by Marsilio Ficino's philosophy of love and is shown inside the novel.
