Doenças Inflamatórias Intestinais (DII) compreendem um grupo de enfermidades crônicas, das quais se sobressaem a Doença de Crohn (DC) e a Retocolite Ulcerativa (RCU). Estas doenças se caracterizam por períodos de recidiva e de remissão, por vezes necessitando de internações hospitalares. Determinar o perfil clínico-epidemiológico dos pacientes portadores de DII internados em hospital universitário de referência para DII, no Piauí, Brasil. Foram avaliadas 105 internações de 74 pacientes, no período de janeiro de 2015 a outubro de 2016. Foram analisadas variáveis demográficas, perfil clínico de acordo com a classificação de Montreal, tempo de internação hospitalar e ocorrência de cirurgia, infecção hospitalar e óbito. Foram incluídos 74 pacientes que foram submetidos a 105 internações hospitalares. Destas, 71 (67,6%) foram por DC e 34 (32,4%) por RCU. A média de idade foi de 36,5 anos para DC e 42,8 anos para RCU. Segundo a classificação de Montreal, as características clínicas mais comuns dos pacientes com DC foram a localização ileocolônica da doença (36,6%) e o comportamento não-estenosante e não penetrante (42,3%). A doença perianal ocorreu em 25,4% dos pacientes. O acometimento mais comum nos pacientes com RCU foi a retite (38,2%). O tempo médio de internação foi de 24,6 dias para DC e 17,9 dias para RCU. Intervenções cirúrgicas ocorreram em 39,4% das internações por DC e em 2,9% por RCU. Infecção hospitalar ocorreu em 14,1% das internações por DC e em 2,9% por RCU. Ocorreram 3 óbitos entre os pacientes com DC, sendo dois deles decorrentes de sepse. (Cont.)
