Aluminum and aluminum-manganese alloys were electrodeposited from chloroaluminate ionic liquids on low carbon steel substrates. The properties of the deposited films were analyzed, with regard to their morphology, structure, composition and corrosion behavior in neutral 3.5% NaCl solution. The effect of the deposition time and of the current density chosen on the above mentioned properties of the deposits was systematically investigated. Both the Al and the Al-Mn layers showed excellent corrosion protection to the steel substrates.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
