Neste trabalho, investigou-se de forma sistemática a vazão volumétrica do efluente no Restaurante Universitário do Campus Básico da Universidade Federal do Pará (RU-UFPa), objetivando-se determinar o consumo médio per capita de efluente do RU-UFPa, assim como o coeficiente de retorno de esgoto (C), fundamentais na determinação da carga poluidora dos efluentes líquidos gerados no RU-UFPa. As medidas de vazão do efluente foram realizadas ao longo do horário de funcionamento do RU-UFPa, de 07:00 horas às 20:00 horas, com intervalos de tempo de 10,0 minutos, no período de novembro de 2013 (26, 28, e 29/11/2013) a março de 2014 (13 e 14/11/2014), utilizando-se um vertedor triangular medidor. Os dados experimentais foram analisados estatisticamente, sendo descritos na forma de hidrogramas/histogramas da vazão do efluente, assim como Box-plot da vazão de efluente. Os valores das médias, medianas e modas apresentaram, praticamente em todos os dias, valores muito próximos, demostrando uma distribuição de dados uniforme e próxima dos valores centrais. Em função da chuva, os dias 28 de novembro e 13 de março apresentaram os maiores valores e os maiores intervalos entre a vazão máxima e mínima. Destaca-se a significativa diferença gerada pela ocorrência de chuva, uma vez que a diferença entre a vazão média e a máxima do dia 28 de novembro foi de 0,52 L/s, enquanto que a diferença do dia 13 de março foi de 0,64 L/s, um valor quase 20% maior. O coeficiente de retorno entre a vazão de água de consumo/lavagem e a vazão do efluente variou entre 76% e 81%, sendo o valor calculado para o consumo per capita igual a 18,05 L/Refeição*dia. O vertedor projetado/construído mostrou ser eficiente, robusto e flexível, ao mesmo tempo em que, obteve-se ótimos ajustes em relação à precisão.
