O objetivo desta pesquisa foi analisar o desempenho de sistemas com aguapé (Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms), operando-se em condições estática e dinâmica, no tratamento de águas residuárias diluídas da suinocultura. Nos ensaios foram utilizadas soluções com concentrações de DBO entre 100 a 400 mg L-1, com monitoramento da concentração inicial, da concentração mínima e do seu dia de ocorrência, e da eficiência máxima de remoção, para avaliar o desempenho dos sistemas estático e dinâmico quanto à melhoria de qualidade das soluções submetidas a tratamento. Com base nas condições em que foram realizados os ensaios, concluiu-se que a utilização de aguapés resultou na redução significativa de DBO de soluções obtidas da diluição de águas residuárias da suinocultura, obtendo-se eficiências máximas de remoção nas faixas de 69 a 79% (estático) e de 83 a 91% (dinâmico). Os parâmetros de desempenho desses dois sistemas foram, de modo geral, melhores para águas residuárias com maiores níveis iniciais de DBO.
