Theatre translation is a relatively new area of research within the field of translation studies, which is also quite recent. Studies about the specific characteristics of the dramatic text provided an impulse to the field of theatre translation, which demonstrates the beneficial effect of a closer dialogue between different fields of study. Presenting theoretical concepts, practical examples and discussions, the present article proposes to further the dialogue between theory and practice, both in translation studies and in performing arts, as well as between the two fields of knowledge.
