El “permanente del tomate”, “manchado del tubérculo” o “zebra chip” en papa y “brotes cloróticos” del chile, son tres enfermedades descritas en México con signos coincidentes de aborto de flor, oscurecimiento de tejido vascular en la base del tallo y raíz de las plantas. Se ha mencionado la asociación entre estas enfermedades y la bacteria emergente Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum (CLs) así como al psílido Bactericera cockerelli como su vector. Estas enfermedades, que en inicio se localizaban en tres estados de México se han diseminado a las principales regiones productoras de solanáceas, tanto en condiciones de campo como en invernadero. El objetivo del estudio fue conocer la presencia de CLs asociado a enfermedades que afectan los cultivos de tomate, para y chile en México. La bacteria se identificó por PCR del gen 16S de ADNr, clonación y secuenciación. La alineación de secuencias nucleotídicas se realizó con el método Clustal W y el árbol filogenético se construyó con el algoritmo de Neighbor-Joining a partir de distancias calculadas con el método de Tajima-Nei y un índice de Felsenstein de 1 000 réplicas, utilizando el software MEGA versión 5.05. En total se analizaron 167 muestras, de las cuales 86 resultaron positivas, provenientes de 14 estados de México. Se obtuvieron cinco secuencias nucleotídicas de Guanajuato, San Luis Potosí y Sinaloa correspondientes al tomate, papa y chile, adultos y huevecillos de B. cockerelli. El análisis de las secuencias mostró una identidad de 99.4% al comparase entre estas y hasta 99.8% con accesiones del GenBank descritas para CLs en EUA, Nueva Zelanda y Canadá.
La nueva variedad de sorgo Matinal fue desarrollado en el Campo Experimental Valle de Culiacán (CEVACU) del INIFAP y registrado con el número 2402-SOG-227-111012 en el Catálogo Nacional de Variedades Vegetales (CNVV) del SINCS de México. Esta variedad se adapta a las áreas productoras de sorgo para el estado de Sinaloa. Matinal es una variedad de ciclo vegetativo precoz, grano crema o ámbar y se recomienda para condiciones de riego y temporal. El rendimiento promedio de la variedad es de 2 850 kg ha-1 de grano y 21 900 kg ha-1 de forraje verde, supera en promedio 3% y 9.5% respectivamente, el rendimiento de híbridos comerciales de compañías privadas, que se cultivan en la región bajo las mismas condiciones en temporal. Matinal tiene aceptable calidad bromatológica como los híbridos comerciales en el forraje, con 6.91% de proteína y 74.58% de digestibilidad, compitiendo favorablemente con los testigos con 7.5% y 66%, respectivamente. Es tolerante a enfermedades en campo que se presentan en la región, como son: ergot (Claviceps africana), antracnosis (Colletotrichum graminicola), tizón de la panoja (Fusarium moniliforme) y pudrición carbonosa del tallo (Macrophomina phaseolina). Además Matinal presentó un tamaño de grano de 4.4, 4.2 y 2.8 mm de largo, ancho y grosor, respectivamente; y una composición química de proteínas, lípidos, cenizas y carbohidratos de 13.9, 4.1, 1.8 y 80.2%, respectivamente; por lo que se propone a Matinal como una nueva variedad potencial para ser cultivada en el estado de Sinaloa.
Especies de Fusaria ocasionan en el maíz enfermedades de tipo vascular que inducen pudriciones de tallos, raíces y granos de mazorca y finalmente la muerte de la planta. En el presente estudio se identificó molecularmente la presencia y diversidad de especies del género Fusarium asociadas a estos daños en Sinaloa. Durante los periodos de siembra en los años 2013-2014 se colectó tejido de tallo y raíz de plantas jóvenes y adultas, así como granos de mazorcas enfermas, en los municipios de Ahome, Culiacán y Elota en el estado de Sinaloa. En esta investigación se identificaron mediante análisis de secuenciación enzimática las especies F. verticillioides, F. oxysporum, F. subglutinans, F. equiseti, F. nygamai, F. cf. bullatum y F. andiyazi, en donde F. verticilloides fue la especie más predominante. Asimismo, se reporta por primera vez la presencia en México de Fusarium cf. bullatum causando daños en el maíz.
La nueva variedad de sorgo VCS Diamante fue desarrollado en el Campo Experimental Valle de Culiacán (CEVACU) del INIFAP y registrada con el número SOG-282-231117 y título de obtentor número 1892, en el Catálogo Nacional de Variedades Vegetales (CNVV) del SINCS de México. Esta variedad se adapta a las áreas productoras de sorgo para el estado de Sinaloa. VCS Diamante es una variedad de ciclo vegetativo intermedio, de grano crema o ámbar, se recomienda para condiciones de riego y temporal. El rendimiento promedio de la variedad es de 3 310 kg ha-1 de grano y 27 105 kg ha-1 de forraje verde, superior en promedio 15.4 y 25.47% respectivamente, al rendimiento de híbridos comerciales, que se cultivan en la región bajo las mismas condiciones en temporal. VCS-Diamante tiene al igual que los híbridos comerciales aceptable calidad bromatológica en el forraje, con 6.21% de proteína y 78.66% de digestibilidad. Es tolerante a enfermedades que se presentan en la región, como son: ergot (Claviceps africana), antracnosis (Colletotrichum graminicola), tizón de la panoja (Fusarium moniliforme) y pudrición carbonosa del tallo (Macrophomina phaseolina), presenta tolerancia al pulgón amarillo del sorgo (Melanaphis sacchari Zehntner). VCS-Diamante presenta un tamaño de grano de 4.61, 4.35 y 2.8 mm, de largo, ancho y grosor y una composición química de proteínas, lípidos, cenizas y carbohidratos de 14.95, 3.93, 2.04 y 79.08%, respectivamente.
