El presente artículo revisa recientes investigaciones sobre las actividades extracurriculares deportivas y su relación con los procesos escolares, además, su incidencia en aspectos sociofamiliares y psicológicos en los niños y jóvenes que las llevan a cabo. La revisión identifica diversos estudios con intervenciones sociales y procesos de acompañamiento en ambientes escolares y extraescolares. La metodología implicó que los textos hayan sido publicados en la última década en revistas arbitradas, siguiendo criterios de búsqueda como escuela y deporte, educación y fútbol, desempeño académico de estudiantes deportistas, participación en actividades extraescolares y proceso académico, deporte y formación institucionalizada, deporte, familia y desempeño escolar, motivación escolar en niños deportistas. Los resultados muestran cierta polaridad en los hallazgos, principalmente los de las investigaciones que relacionan las actividades deportivas con el rendimiento académico, además se muestran diferencias sociales y psicológicas marcadas entre los niños y jóvenes que practican alguna actividad físico – deportiva, comparados con quienes no lo hacen y como conclusión de esta revisión teórica se resalta la necesidad de promover un adecuado acompañamiento familiar en la realización de las actividades deportivas para no solo evitar caer en riesgos sociales, sino en afectaciones de carácter psicológico por la presión por los resultados ante el carácter competitivo de las mismas, entendiendo la contribución que estas actividades y sus actores ofrecen en la formación de millones de niños y jóvenes alrededor del mundo. This article reviews recent research on extracurricular sports activities and their relationship with school processes, as well as their impact on socio-family and psychological aspects in children and young people who carry them out. The review identifies various studies with social interventions and accompaniment processes in school and extracurricular environments. In addition, the methodology implied that the texts have been published in the last decade and in peer-reviewed journals, following search criteria such as school and sport, education and soccer, academic performance of student athletes, participation in extracurricular activities and academic process, sport and training. institutionalized, sport, family and school performance, school motivation in child athletes.
