Die Reaktion von Oxalsäure im supersauren System HF/SbF5 führt je nach Reaktionstemperatur zu unterschiedlichen Ergebnissen. So erfolgt bei –75 °C Protonierung der Oxalsäure zu HO(O)CC(OH)+SbF6– (1), während bei einer Temperaturerhöhung auf –40 °C Salze der Zusammensetzung (HO)2CC(OH)22+(SbF6–)2 · 4 H2O (2) entstehen. Die Salze werden durch Schwingungsspektroskopie und Kristallstrukturanalysen charakterisiert.
Trifluor(methyl)arsonium‐Hexafluoroarsenat wurde dargestellt und durch Raman‐Spektroskopie sowie Einkristallröntgenstrukturanalyse charakterisiert. Es kristallisiert in der monoklinen Raumgruppe P21/n (Nr. 14) mit Z = 4 und a = 787.5(1), b = 892.9(1), c = 1061.4(1) pm, β = 96.96(1)°, V = 0.74083(14) nm3. Der R‐Wert beträgt 0.0343 für 2009 Reflexe mit I > 2σ(I). Das Kation besitzt C3v‐Symmetrie, während das Anion eine verzerrt oktaedrische Struktur aufweist.
