When we think of the internationalization of Nursing, we immediately imagine the visibility provided by research, through scientific publications, presentations in congresses, professor and student movements when they offer the perfect opportunity to show what we do best. That was what I was thinking some days ago when I accepted the honor of writing this editorial. However, today the world has changed in unimaginable ways, and the certitude, completeness, the supposed perfection and, above all, the misconception of dominance and control that most human beings desire are interrupted by a world pandemics caused by a coronavirus: the COVID-19 (1) , which has openly made us face the idea that we are working on our self-elimination. This situation has also presented the nurses all over the world the great opportunity of higher visibility, by demonstrating our skills in knowledge, research, creativity and, as stated by the biologist Humberto Maturana, demonstrating the skills we have for our own autopoiesis, referring to that possibility of self-organization, of self-construction and adaptation to what our common ecological niche offers today: The Earth (2). This leads us to understand and interpret a new care cosmovision by acknowledging the complexity of the globalized problems of life where uncertainty and chaos (3) emerge, so that we can meditate and create new questions that will lead us to new forms of education, research and development of innovative practices. We should begin by the education in Nursing, affected by the pandemics, reaching a decisive point that Fritjof Capra (4) calls "the crucial point", when it allows this accelerated spinning to the concept of presence and flexibility, field of online education, implementing education strategies that we had never imagined with the end of continually improve the development of our curricula with a clear goal: to achieve the learning skills that our Nursing students require to face the challenges presented today by a global virus, which does not only affect health through lesions in the upper and lower respiratory tract, but also threatens to affect social-economical and family dynamics, not to mention, very likely, all the population's mental health. Maybe that would be the perfect excuse to consolidate Nursing education skills that contribute to developing beings integrated into the Universe, who would share different theories or concepts, respecting one another and applying for themselves what is good for the common welfare. That can be achieved by developing the awareness of our own and the collective meaning to know where we live, where we are and where we intend

Objective: To determine the effectiveness of a nursing intervention for delirium prevention in critically ill patients. Method: A quasi-experimental study was conducted with a non-equivalent control group and with evaluation before and after the intervention. 157 Patients were part of the intervention group and 134 of the control group. Patients were followed-up until they were discharged from the ICU or died. The incidence of delirium in both groups was compared. Additionally, the effect measures were adjusted for the propensity score. Results: The incidence and incidence rate of delirium in the control group were 20.1% and 33.1 per 1000 person-days (CI 95% 22.7 to 48.3) and in the intervention group was 0.6% and 0.64 per 1000 person-days (CI 95% 0.22 to 11.09), respectively. The crude Hazard Ratio was 0.06 (CI 95% 0,008 to 0,45) and adjusted 0.07 (CI 95% 0,009 to 0,60). The number needed to be treated was six. Conclusion: Low incidence of delirium in critically ill patients intervened demonstrated the effectiveness of interventions. The average intervention time was 4 days with a 15-minutes dedication for each patient.

RESUMEN Objetivo Determinar la prevalencia del acoso escolar y sus factores determinantes en adolescentes escolarizados. Método Estudio de corte transversal analítico en una muestra de adolescentes provenientes de 20 instituciones educativas públicas de una ciudad de Colombia, seleccionados mediante un muestreo probabilístico polietápico. Se realizó regresión binomial simple y multivariable. Resultados Participaron 500 adolescentes. El 50,4% eran mujeres y 53,2% en adolescencia media. Predominó la violencia verbal (66,5%) seguida de física (32,0%) y por exclusión (30,6%). El 69,5% de los adolescentes fueron testigos, 35,8% víctimas y 14,2% agresores. El 80,5% de los agresores fueron víctimas de acoso escolar. En el análisis multivariable, se encontró asociación entre ser víctima y presentar alguna discapacidad (RP 2,4 IC 1,6-3,7), agresión verbal en el hogar (RP 1,7 IC 1,2-2,3) y consumo de droga (RP 1,7 IC 1,1-2,8). Asimismo, ser agresor se asoció con ser víctima (RP 7,2 IC 3,6-14,3) y consumo de alcohol (RP 2,2 IC 1,3-3,8). Conclusión La frecuencia de acoso escolar observada y los factores determinantes asociados, evidencian la persistencia de esta problemática en los adolescentes y la necesidad de desarrollar una cultura de convivencia adecuada e incluyente que trascienda el escenario escolar.

<p><strong>Introducción: </strong>La medición de la calidad del cuidado de Enfermería requiere del uso de escalas válidas y confiables, es así como el objetivo del estudio fue determinar la reproducibilidad del cuestionario de calidad de cuidados de enfermería en pacientes hospitalizados en una institución prestadora de servicios de salud. <strong>Materiales y Métodos:</strong> Estudio de evaluación de pruebas diagnósticas, se determinó la consistencia interna y la reproducibilidad prueba reprueba del cuestionario, basado en sus dos dimensiones: experiencias y satisfacción con el cuidado de enfermería.<strong> </strong>Tipo de muestreo probabilístico aleatorio simple. <strong>Resultados:</strong> En cuanto a la reproducibilidad del instrumento, en la dimensión de experiencia con los cuidados la mayoría de los ítems se encuentran con coeficientes de correlación intraclase por debajo de 0.7, con una media de 0.623; en la dimensión de satisfacción de los cuidados, la mayoría de los ítems están por encima de 0.7 con una media de 0.873. La confiabilidad del instrumento medida a través del Alfa de Cronbach fue 0.930, en la dimensión de experiencia 0.904 y 0.980 en la dimensión de satisfacción. <strong>Discusión:</strong> El Cuestionario de Calidad de Cuidados de Enfermería, en sus dos dimensiones de experiencia y satisfacción de los cuidados fue adecuadamente entendido por parte de los participantes y Luego de su aplicación se considera una confiable para pacientes de diferentes servicios de hospitalización. <strong>Conclusiones:</strong> El instrumento es una escala confiable para la evaluación de la calidad del cuidado. RESUMENObjetivo: determinar la adherencia terapéutica en personas con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 que asisten a una institución de salud, a través de la etiqueta Conducta terapéutica: enfermedad o lesión 1609 presentes. Materiales y Métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal con enfoque cuantitativo. La población de estudio estuvo conformada por 178 pacientes que cumplieron con los criterios de selección. Se obtuvo la caracterización sociodemográfica, funcionalidad y estado mental; se midió la adherencia terapéutica en escala de 1 menos adherente y 5 más adherente, con un instrumento validado basado en la etiqueta de resultado del Nursing Outcomes Classification de personas con diabetes mellitus tipo 2. Resultados: el 37.1 % de la población objeto de estudio era de sexo masculino, la ocupación predominante fue la dedicación al hogar, el principal nivel de escolaridad fue primaria, perteneciente en su mayoría a la religión católica, con una media de 11.5 de años de diagnóstico de diabetes tipo 2 y la adherencia terapéutica para la muestra estudiada mostró una media de 3,68. Conclusiones: en la muestra analizada de personas con diabetes tipo 2 se encontró una adherencia terapéutica entre en ocasiones manifestada y con frecuencia manifestada. Objective: To determine direct and indirect non-medical costs derived from caring for patients with chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in three health institutions located in the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga, Colombia. Methods: a descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with 77 patients with NCDs and their family caregivers, who were selected through systematic sampling between 2018 and 2019. Results: Most people with NCDs are women (55 %) at an average age of 70. Four out of five caregivers are women, at an average age of 40, who deliver care for an average of 14 hours a day. The total monthly cost for patient care was on average 324,207 COP. The most significant costs are related to health, food, housing, transport, and communication. 60.5 % of NCDs patients were responsible for household finances before becoming ill. About half of them stopped working and the other half experienced a reduction of 33 % in their monthly income after becoming ill. Conclusion: due to the need for complementary and comprehensive treatment, care, and interventions, costs related to care of NCDs patients increase despite the income of NCDs patients and their caregivers do not.

Objective. To evaluate the effect of the "Caring for Caregivers" program in the caring ability and burden in family caregivers of patients with chronic diseases at health care institutions. Methods. A randomized controlled clinical trial was conducted in 34 relatives of patients with chronic diseases that had cared for them for more than 3 months. Zarit scale was used to measure caregiver burden and the CAI (Caring Ability Inventory) was also used to measure caring ability. An educational intervention was applied based on the "Caring for Caregivers" strategy of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Results. Although both groups improved their percentage of unburdened caregivers from the first to the second assessment, the difference between the two assessments was 41.

Objective: To determine the nursing workload in intensive care units (ICUs) and the factors associated with the Nursing Activities Score (NAS). Method: An analytical cross-sectional study was carried out in three ICUs in Bucaramanga, Colombia, between February 2018 and February 2020. The nursing workload was estimated based on the NAS. A descriptive and bivariate analysis stratified by ICU was performed using a robust multiple linear regression model, and the factors associated with the nursing workload (p < 0.05) were estimated. Results: In this study, 362 records were included. The median NAS was 68.1 points (Q1:47.2–Q3:116.7). APACHE II (β = 3.13, CI: 95% 2.28; 3.98), days of stay in ICU ≥3 (β = 16.78, CI: 95% 6.15; 27.41), surgery provenance service (β = 22.31, CI: 95% 9.76; 34.86), and traumatology and emergencies diagnostic category (β = 33.72, CI 95%: 9.90; 57.53) were associated with high NAS scores. Conclusion: The nursing staff spend approximately 70% of their time on a single patient, and administrative work takes up most of their time. Hospital stays of longer than 3 days, high APACHE II score, coming from the surgery department, and having a diagnosis of trauma and emergency were associated with a high workload.
