O presente artigo tem o objetivo de analisar o poder que a mídia tem, interferindo no curso de processos criminais. A questão a ser enfrentada é a espetacularização irresponsável e a propagação de notícias que influenciam o pensamento do público, e que muitas vezes desrespeitam regras e princípios penais e processuais, em especial os previstos constitucionalmente. Tal situação tem por consequência uma sociedade do espetáculo, onde não se controla a influência e a manipulação dos pensamentos. É preciso considerar o papel garantista do processo penal e a proteção dos direitos fundamentais, como a dignidade da pessoa humana, por exemplo, para que eventual condenação seja resultado de um processo justo e não pela manipulação midiática. Para a presente pesquisa foi utilizada revisão bibliográfica.
