Actualmente el tratamiento del cáncer demanda de las enfermeras/os un cuidado holístico y personalizado que impone exigencias emocionales que pueden desembocar en situaciones de estrés y/o burnout. Objetivo: Conocer los sentimientos de las enfermeras oncológicas al cuidar personas enfermas de cáncer. Material y Método: Se realizó una revisión integrativa en las bases de datos Clinicalkey, JAMA network, Lilacs, Proquest, Pubmed, Science direct, SciELO, BVS y Web of Science, de artículos cualitativos publicados entre el 2008 al 2020. De los 2.316 documentos recuperados inicialmente y posterior a aplicar los criterios de inclusión y exclusión, lectura de título, resúmenes y evaluación crítica, se seleccionaron 12. Resultados: Las enfermeras oncológicas se encuentran en una constante búsqueda del equilibrio entre sus sentimientos hacia los pacientes con cáncer y los sentimientos que consideran adecuados al momento de entregar el cuidado a estos pacientes; re eren como necesario el apoyo psicológico para afrontar las consecuencias del trabajo en unidades de oncología, reconociendo el apoyo de colegas como esencial en esta tarea. Existe la necesidad de capacitación en herramientas terapéuticas y habilidades técnicas para apoyar al paciente oncológico y su familia, de manera que también les permita enfrentar sus propios sentimientos frente a la enfermedad y así entregar el mejor cuidado posible a estas personas. Conclusiones: Las enfermeras oncológicas desarrollan sentimientos y lazos emocionales hacia sus pacientes, los cuales emergen de la relación personal establecida con la persona enferma de cáncer y se cruzan con las estrategias utilizadas para enfrentar el dolor de estas y el propio.
