O cultivo de pastagem no Estado de Pernambuco destaca-se como a principal fonte de alimentação do rebanho bovino da região. Não sendo diferente das demais culturas, o conhecimento da quantidade de água requerida pela pastagem em cada fase de seu desenvolvimento é fator importante para o sucesso produtivo da lavoura. Dessa forma, o objetivo do presente estudo foi medir e simular a evapotranspiração da Brachiaria decumbens cultivada em sequeiro na microrregião de Garanhuns – PE, empregando os métodos do balanço de energia – razão de Bowen e o modelo SiSPAT. Este trabalho foi realizado numa área experimental de aproximadamente 24 ha (8º 52’ 30’’S, 36º 22’ 00’’O e 705 m) cultivada com Brachiaria decumbens. A coleta dos dados foi obtida de uma torre micrometeorológica instalada na área experimental, onde foram medidos: temperatura e umidade relativa do ar, saldo de radiação, radiação solar global, fluxo de calor no solo, direção do vento e precipitação pluvial. Também foram instalados sensores automatizados para medição da temperatura e umidade volumétrica do solo. Foram ainda realizadas as seguintes determinações na pastagem: altura da cobertura vegetal (dossel), índice de área foliar e evolução do sistema radicular. O modelo SiSPAT mostrou desempenho satisfatório ao simular os componentes do balanço de energia e a evapotranspiração acumulada da pastagem sob diferentes condições atmosféricas e de disponibilidade de água às plantas.
