Caçapava do Sul (RS) é bem reconhecida pela geodiversidade e, atualmente pelo desenvolvimento da Olivicultura. Este trabalho teve por objetivo apresentar o potencial interdisciplinar entre a geologia e olivicultura como forma de contribuir para o ensino e divulgação das geociências na região e no estado do RS. O estudo ocorreu por meio da sistematização das informações geográficas, geológicas e geomorfológicas no formato de materiais didáticos que foram usados em uma ação pedagógica com alunos do ensino médio e técnico de uma escola estadual rural de Caçapava do Sul. As informações indicaram que os olivais estão assentados em substratos litológicos distintos com predominância de rochas metamórficas, ígneas e sedimentares, também foi observado que a maioria dos olivais ocorrem em solos do tipo neossolo e argissolo. As impressões da atividade pedagógica indicaram a aquisição do conhecimento de forma integrada sobre a atividade da olivicultura com assuntos relacionados a geologia. A comunidade escolar opinou sobre a importância da atividade turística como diferencial para a divulgação da geociências na região. Neste aspecto é discutido brevemente o desenvolvimento do turismo, utilizando a estratégia de terroir, como fator de desenvolvimento regional.
