Introducción: La terapia intravenosa neonatal es la herramienta más utilizada para el alivio de diversas patologías. Ésta resulta indispensable para administrar fármacos, nutrición parenteral, hemoderivados, líquidos y electrolitos en neonatos enfermos o críticamente enfermos. Por lo tanto, debe ser considerada como una línea de vida, ya que resulta indispensable para el éxito del tratamiento y, por ello, su cuidado debe ser meticuloso. Objetivo: brindar una actualización en la praxis de la terapia intravenosa neonatal que permita al personal de salud tomar decisiones asertivas en el cuidado y con apego a la evidencia científica. Metodología: se desplegó una revisión de las obras científicas en idioma inglés y español en bases científicas PubMed, Scielo, Lilacs y ScienceDirect. Resultados: Se encontraron 104 artículos que abordaban tópicos relacionados con la terapia intravenosa neonatal y pediátrica, se eligieron los que reportaron datos concretos en la población de análisis y se excluyeron a los que entre sus resultados solo mencionaban datos de población pediátrica. Conclusiones: la literatura científica nacional e internacional disponible permite al personal sanitario mejorar la atención del neonato respecto a la terapia intravenosa, invitando a la reflexión sobre la praxis libre de riesgos, con conocimiento de causa y en consecuencia, más humana.
Introducción: Los profesionales de la salud enfrentan frecuentemente situaciones de violencia durante el desempeño de sus funciones con riesgo de desarrollar consecuencias físicas, psicológicas y laborales. Objetivo: Determinar los factores que desencadenan violencia hacia el personal de salud. Metodología: Estudio descriptivo transversal, con una muestra de 66 personas en un hospital de segundo nivel de atención en México, se realizó un muestreo no probabilístico, se utilizó el instrumento "Agresiones hacia profesionales en el ámbito de la salud". En cada etapa del estudio se atendieron los principios éticos de acuerdo con el Reglamento de la Ley General de Salud en Materia de Investigación y declaración de Helsinki. Para el análisis de los datos se empleó el programa SPSS versión 20 y se aplicó estadística descriptiva. Resultados: Los factores desencadenantes de violencia hacia el personal, fueron la carencia de recursos materiales que se encontró presente en el 40% de los casos, el comunicado del fallecimiento del paciente en el 30%, la demora de la atención en un 20%. El principal agresor fue el paciente. El 96% del personal no abandonó su labor después de sufrir el acto de violencia. Conclusiones: Los principales desencadenantes de violencia corresponden a aspectos administrativos de material y recursos, esta situación debe atraer la atención de las autoridades sanitarias ya que es de su competencia la gestión del recurso material y humano.
Introducción: En tiempos de pandemia, con una prevalencia importante de enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles en México se adjunta el riesgo de contraer enfermedades virales como SARS-CoV-2, riesgo que puede transferirse a los cuidadores primarios e incrementar la demanda de los cuidados de la vida diaria a la persona enferma. Objetivo: describir el nivel de sobrecarga de cuidador principal de los pacientes con enfermedad renal crónica que reciben tratamiento renal sustitutivo en un centro hospitalario de segundo nivel en época de pandemia. Metodología: Estudio descriptivo, transversal con una n = 84, muestreo aleatorio simple. Resultados: La edad fue de 54±10 años y predominó el género femenino. Las personas que se dedican al cuidado de un paciente con ERC, en su mayoría, padecen alguna enfermedad crónica. Un pequeño porcentaje (23.8%) considera que la sobrecarga que tienen debido a las funciones que realizan es intensa. Conclusiones: La mayoría de los cuidadores primarios de los pacientes con enfermedad renal crónica (ERC) que reciben tratamiento renal sustitutivo en un hospital de segundo nivel en época de pandemia se percibe sin sobrecarga. Es necesario estudiar este fenómeno con mayor profundidad, así como su impacto en la salud del cuidador pues la mayoría padece una enfermedad crónica y es doblemente vulnerable al contagio del virus SARS-CoV-2.
