Ainsi qu'à toute l'équipe de Techniques&Culture pour sa générosité, sa confiance et ses conseils. 1Les contraintes matérielles et sociales d'un terrain permettent ou requièrent parfois d'inventer des modes d'enquêtes. Non seulement du fait de leur isolement ou de l'éloignement qu'ils proposent, mais aussi de leur qualité labyrinthique, de leurs interdits et de leurs secrets, les souterrains ouvrent-ils la voie à ce genre d'innovations et de jeux heuristiques ? Les catacombes de Paris aménagées et visitées de longue date offrent un terrain d'expérimentation propice pour tester cette hypothèse. Afin d'entrer en contact avec les cataphiles, réputés pour leur art de l'esquive et du hacking, j'ai établi un dispositif tenant autant de l'enquête ethnographique que de la performance artistique.As above, so below ? Le souterrain pris comme terrain de jeu commun 2 Septembre 2019. Cette enquête débute lorsque Jean Belette, un ami cataphile, m'invite à mener une performance dans la partie illégale des catacombes. Il veut utiliser des artefacts réalisés dans le cadre de son projet « Moulages Intimes » pour créer un objet que nous y laisserons, trace de notre happening. Sans être cataphile, je connais un peu les lieux. L'idée d'une enquête performance expérimentale s'inspirant de travaux sur l'engagement (Favret-Saada 1977) et sur la vertu heuristique de la mise en scène (Houseman 2004) prend progressivement forme. Il y sera autant question de recueillir des informations sur la culture matérielle des cataphiles, que de faire vivre une expérience artistique. Jean Belette en sera le soutien logistique et j'en serai l'opératrice.Les performances sont des espaces privilégiés pour faire parler les gens : la mise en scène crée en effet un environnement (Kaprow 1965) qui pose de nouvelles bases Ce qui est en bas Techniques & Culture , Suppléments aux numéros Catacombes de Paris. 14 décembre 2019. Vous avez marché dans des galeries qui sont si basses que vous n'avez pu les franchir qu'en rampant. Vous vous sentez bien, là, à vingt mètres sous le sol de Paris. Au creux de la terre.
