Porphyromonas gingivalis merupakan bakteri utama penyebab penyakit periodontal. Bakteri ini memiliki faktor virulensi seperti lipopolisakarida dan gingipain. Faktor virulensi ini dapat membuatnya lolos dari sistem imun periodontal lalu masuk ke dalam sirkulasi darah atau bakterimia. Bakterimia yang terjadi kemudian menyebabkan bakteri berpindah ke sistem saraf pusat sehingga mengaktivasi mikroglia dan respon neuroinflamasi. Neuroinflamasi merupakan proses inflamasi kompleks yang terjadi di sistem saraf pusat sebagai mekanisme pertahanan dalam melawan patogen, toksin, atau faktor yang menyebabkan neurodegenerasi. Proses neuroinflamasi ini diregulasi oleh aktivitas sel neuron, glia, dan sel endotel di dalam sistem neurovaskular. Produksi mediator inflamasi yang berlebihan oleh sel-sel tersebut dapat menyebabkan kematian sel neuron dan berhubungan dengan terjadinya disfungsi kognitif, seperti penyakit Alzheimer. Dalam tinjauan pustaka ini akan dipaparkan tentang imunopatogenesis Porphyromonas gingivalis pada disfungsi kognitif melalui aktivasi neuroinflamasi di otak.

The status of dental caries in kindergarten children is still very high, this is because children cannot be independent in maintaining dental health so that mothers have a role in preventing caries. This study aims to determine the relationship between the mother's role and the dental caries status of children at Al-Khairiyah Kindergarten Banda Aceh. This research is analytic with cross sectional study approach. Sampling using total sampling, namely all children aged 4-6 years and their mothers as respondents amounted to 60 people in TK Al-Khairiyah Banda Aceh. The research instrument used a questionnaire and a dental caries index. Data analysis used Chi-Square statistical test. The results showed that from 60 mothers who had a poor maternal role as many as 29 people (48.8%) with the results of the examination of the dental caries status of children in the very high category as many as 23 children (38.3%), the results of the chi-square test obtained a p value =0.000 (p<0.05). It was concluded that there was a relationship between the role of the mother and the dental caries status of children at the Al-Khairiyah Kindergarten in Banda Aceh.
Introduction:Oral cancer is one of most common cancer in the world. Oral cancer can affect any part of oral cavity and oropharyngeal. Etiology of oral cancer is multifactorial. Delay in diagnosis and management of oral cancer can worsen of prognosis and increase case mortality.Here we report 3 cases of delayed diagnosis oral cancer. Case Report: First case, patient with history of persistent oral ulcer for 2 years, patient has gone to many doctors but the ulcer does not healed. The second case, patient with persistent oral ulcer for the last 1 year, and the third case, patient with history of persistent oral ulcer for 5 month without improvement. All these patients referred to oral medicine specialist, and when the oral examination was performed, they are diagnosed with suspected oral squamous cell carcinoma and then we referred to oncologist for further examination. Discussion: Oral squamous cell carcinoma is most common oral cancer with survival rate at earlier stages relatively good than advanced stage. Diagnostic delay in oral cancer is one of main reason the patients are in advanced stage when their diagnosed are finally made. In our cases, all of the patients had persistent oral ulcer with the diagnosis is oral cancer and we suggest all of them are in the advanced stage of oral cancer. Conclusion: Oral cancer can be prevented by early detection of the lesions. It is important to educate patient and public to be more knowledgeable about oral cancer, and also to general practitioner.
ABSTRAK Kader kesehatan sebagai ujung tombak masyarakat perlu membekali diri dengan pengetahuan dan membantu upaya peningkatan derajat kesehatan gigi dan mulut yang optimal. Oleh karena itu, kader harus menguasai berbagai keterampilan dan teknik pengetahuan. Dalam kegiatan ini dilakukan pelatihan dengan harapan kader dapat mentransfer ilmu yang diterima untuk disampaikan kembali kepada masyarakat khususnya pada kelompok risiko tinggi penyakit gigi dan mulut. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk melaksanakan pelatihan pendidikan kesehatan gigi dalam meningkatkan kesiapsiagaan dan kewaspadaan terhadap penularan COVID-19 pada kader Gampong Meunasah Manyet Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif, dengan target 40 kader posyandu. Intervensi yang diberikan berupa pelatihan kader. Hasil evaluasi kehadiran peserta, 100% mengikuti pelatihan dengan baik dan aktif. Hasil pengabdian masyarakat di Gampong Meunasah Manyet Kabupaten Aceh Besar diperoleh hasil pengetahuan kader setelah diberikan pelatihan meningkat sebesar 75%. Disarankan kepada petugas puskesmas di wilayah kerja untuk memberikan pelatihan kepada kader posyandu minimal 3 bulan sekali dan secara berkesinambungan untuk lebih meningkatkan aktivitas kader posyandu.
