RESUMOEsta pesquisa foi desenvolvida com o propósito de investigar se o controle social exercido pelos conselhos municipais, em particular, o Conselho de Acompanhamento e Controle Social (CACS) do FUNDEB no Município de Porto Velho, Estado de Rondônia, adota procedimentos de acordo com a legislação específica, para o devido acompanhamento da política pública a qual o Conselho se destina. Para analisar esse fenômeno, foi proposto um estudo de caso exploratório de abordagem qualitativa, usando como procedimentos para a coleta de dados a aplicação de questionário e entrevista. O resultado encontrado mostra que o CACS do referido Fundo apresenta um controle social irregular, devido ao descumprimento de atribuições legais causados de forma não intencional (por falta de conhecimento) e à ausência do colegiado distribuído nos processos de fiscalização, controle e avaliação de resultados, tomando por base as informações contábeis para segurança na tomada de decisão e na avaliação de desempenho.Palavras-chave: Controle Social; Políticas Públicas; Educação. ABSTRACT This research was conducted in order to investigate whether the social control exercised by the municipal councils, in particular, the Board of Monitoring and Social Control (CACS) FUNDEB in the city of Porto Velho, State of Rondonia adopts procedures in accordance with the law particular, for the proper monitoring of public policy which the Council is.
