Esse breve artigo pretende apresentar, em linhas gerais, a alimentação egípcia e suas fontes vegetais e principalmente alimentos de origem animal, tentando mostrar em que medida pode-se ou não tratar de um vegetarianismo egípcio antigo. Serão abordados temas como horta e pomar, bem como o uso de cereais, as carnes e peixes disponíveis para alimentação e os tabus alimentares, que podem ser tanto animais quanto vegetais. Para abordarmos os tabus alimentares faremos uma incursão na religião egípcia antiga e a relação da mesma com os alimentos, tanto no mundo dos vivos quanto no post mortem.
Ce bref article a comme but de présenter le développement de l’usage des chaouabtis/oushebtis en comparaison avec les changements observés dans la religion funéraire des égyptiens anciens, principalement durant le Nouvel Empire. Par le biais d’une révision bibliographique associée à des nouvelles découvertes archéologiques et épigraphiques, ce travail souhaite montrer les diverses interprétations associées à l’usage de cet artefact si courant dans le domaine funéraire.
Por meio da iconografia, dos documentos escritos e os vestígios arqueológicos, o presente artigo tem como objetivo apresentar o que conhecemos acerca da prática de atividades físicas no Egito Antigo. Tendo em vista o amplo material pesquisado trataremos de questões referentes à existência ou não do conceito de esporte para os egípcios antigos, bem como abordaremos as modalidades de atividades físicas conhecidas para essa civilização, dentre elas, a corrida, as lutas, a práticas de atividades com bolas, o pugilato, esgrima, equitação, dentre outras. Assim, pretendemos apresentar o estado atual do conhecimento sobre essa questão e evidenciar as dificuldades interpretativas associadas à noção de esporte no Egito Antigo.
Dentre as civilizações da antiguidade, a egípcia é uma das que mais oferece testemunhos e chama a atenção por seus vestígios arqueológicos e textuais de caráter funerário. A religião funerária desse povo, considerando-se apenas as fontes materiais, pode ser observada tanto por construções monumentais em rocha, como por meio de tumbas escavadas, complexos funerários ou mesmo por objetos das mais diversas formas e finalidades, como sarcófagos, caixões, vasos canopos ou estatuetas funerárias. Além dos documentos já mencionados, tem-se um grande número de fontes escritas referentes ao contexto funerário egípcio que dizem respeito tanto a cosmogonias quanto à confecção de amuletos, encantamentos e guias para a vida após a morte. Tendo em vista a amplitude da religião egípcia como um todo, este artigo apresenta uma breve visão acerca da religião funerária egípcia antiga a partir das fontes textuais. Logicamente, não se objetivou fazer aqui uma extensa análise de todo esse universo religioso que, por si só, exigiria um volume próprio. Com isso, foram abordados os três principais corpora de textos funerários e, em seguida, analisou-se os destinos post mortem.
