The crossbreeding between broiler and kampong chickens has been performed to develop a kampong-broiler strain chicken. The chicken stocking condition needs more attention as a part of animal welfare. This study was performed to identify the relationship between the stocking density and the stress based on Temperature Humidity Index (THI) and the effect of stocking density on meat quality, i.e., physical, microbiological, and organoleptic. Ninety DOCs of Kampong-Broiler (KB) were assigned into a completely randomized design with 3 treatments of stocking density i.e., 8, 10, and 12 birds/m 2 . Each treatment was replicated 3 times. The experimental chickens were housed in 9 blocks of housing each with 1 x 1 m 2 size. Data on physical and microbiology of meat qualities were analyzed with analysis of variance and continued with Duncan's multiple range test. The organoleptic data were analyzed by using Kruskal-Wallis test. The result showed that the stocking density did not significantly affect the physical and hedonic quality of KB chicken's breast. The stocking densities significantly affected (P<0.05) the microbiological variables of breast meat. The average value of THI during maintenance reached 28.98±1.25-29.33±1.32 o C. The higher the animal density the higher the THI value that correlated to the stress condition. However, high stocking density did not affect the physical and hedonic quality of breast meat, thus it can be accepted by the consumers. The higher the stocking density the higher the total plate count, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus aureus, without the presence of Salmonella sp. The meat quality of KB chickens raised in the stocking density of 10 birds/m 2 meets the requirement of SNI 01-3924-2009. ABSTRAK Upaya untuk mengembangkan ayam kampung dilakukan melalui persilangan dengan ayam broiler. Kondisi kandang yang nyaman merupakan bagian dari kesejahteraan hewan. Tujuan penelitian ini ialah mengidentifikasi cekaman akibat kepadatan kandang berdasarkan THI (TemperatureHumidity Index) dan mengidentifikasi pengaruh kepadatan kandang pada kualitas daging, yaitu fisik, mikrobiologi, dan organoleptik. Sebanyak 90 DOC KB (Kampung Broiler) digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Ayam KB ditempatkan pada 9 petak (ukuran 1x1 m 2 ) pada kandang semi closed house dengan 3 perlakuan. Setiap perlakuan dilakukan ulangan sebanyak 3 kali. Perlakuan kepadatan kandang yang berbeda yang digunakan ialah 8, 10, dan 12 ekor/m 2 . Peubah fisik dan mikrobiologis dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA dan dilanjutkan dengan uji jarak berganda Duncan. Data organoleptik diuji secara nonparametrik (Kruskal-Wallis). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepadatan kandang tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap kualitas fisik dan mutu hedonik daging dada ayam KB. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of feeding frequency on feed intake, average daily gain (ADG) and Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) in broiler. The research method used in this study is the experimental method, which is the type of research used to find the effect of certain treatment against others in controlled conditions. This research was conducted on poultry breeding farm at Company Farm. Method of data collection used in this research using instrument that is observation sheet to get feed intake, average daily gain, and FCR. The data obtained were analyzed by using independent sample t-test test with SPSS version 17. 00 software. The feeding method did not affect feed intake, ADG and FCR. The average intake of chicken feed maintained by using the method of feeding 2 times was 59.33 g lower than using the method of feeding 3 times, namely 59.41 g. The ADG by feeding method 2 times was 45.29 g, while by feeding method 3 times was 46,21 g. The value of FCR method of feeding 3 times is 1,286, meaning that to produce 1 kg of meat requires 1,286 kg of feed. While the value of chicken FCR on feeding method 2 times is 1,311, that means to produce 1 kg of meat requires as much as 1,311 kg of feed. Salah satu usaha untuk meningkatkan kualitas jerami padi dapat dilakukan dengan meningkatkan nilai cernanya melalui pemecahan ikatan kompleks lignoselulosa baik secara kimia, fisika, biologi maupun kombinasinya (Doyle et al., 1984). Teknik amoniasi termasuk perlakuan alkali yang dapat meningkatkan daya cerna jerami padi. Penduduk di Dusun Kedondong, Desa Tanjung Agung, Kecamatan Way Lima, Kabupaten Pesawaran sebagian besar bergerak di bidang pertanian dan peternakan. Ketersediaan jerami padi yang cukup tinggi belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal oleh petani peternak bahkan jerami padi sering dibakar sehingga terbuang percuma. Kondisi ini terjadi karena kurangnya pengetahuan petani peternak dalam memanfaatkan jerami padi sebagai pakan ternak ruminansia. Jerami padi dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai pakan ternak terutama pada saat musim kering, ketersediaan hijauan pakan ternak termasuk rumput terbatas dan sulit dicari. Metode yang digunakan yaitu melalui penyuluhan dan diskusi bersama masyarakat terkait pengolahan jerami. Kesimpulan yang didapatkan bahwasannya masyarakat sangat antusias serta menerapkan pembuatan amoniasi pada jerami.
This study aimed at evaluating the effect of feeding time system and percentage on body weight, carcass and giblets of layers males. Two hundred and eighty eight 3 weeks old male layers were rearing and randomly distributed on three groups (R1, R2, and R3). R1 were feeding 30% during the day and 70% at night, R2 were feeding 50% during the day and 50% at night, R3 were feeding 70% during the day and 30% at night.
