Las empresas del sector manufacturero del Ecuador han atravesado el desafío de búsqueda de fuentes financiamiento por lo cual han incurrido a la negociación de sus activos financieros en la Bolsa de Valores. El objetivo del trabajo fue analizar las determinantes de estructura de capital mediante el modelo de mínimo cuadrados ordinarios para la determinación de la creación de valor de las empresas industriales que negociaron activos financieros en la Bolsa de Valores de Quito en el año 2020. El diseño metodológico partió de un enfoque cuantitativo debido a que se analizaron los estados financieros de 15 empresas industriales que negociaron sus activos financieros en la Bolsa de Valores. El análisis de correlación de variables estableció como determinantes de estructura de capital a la rentabilidad, tamaño de la firma, tangibilidad, escudos fiscales no generados por deuda, y liquidez, que fueron contrastados frente al EVA (creación de valor económico agregado). Los hallazgos reflejaron que el tamaño de la firma de las empresas tiene un alto nivel significativo con el EVA. Sin embargo, la rentabilidad tuvo una relación inversa, pues, a medida que el EVA sube el otro disminuye. Se concluye que, las empresas que tienen mayor índice de liquidez, rentabilidad, tangibilidad, y escudos fiscales no generados por deuda no siempre generan altos índices de creación de valor para sus accionistas.
