Coal (and tailings) dewatering is a major R&D priority in Australia and other coal producing countries.
Improved dewatering involves understanding and manipulating feed suspension and filter cake characteristics; judicious selection, modificationandapplication of dewatering technology;and control of the process in respectof feed material, operational parameters, and product characteristics. For these areas, this paper analyses R&D needs. summarises recent R&D results, and discusses the on-going research in the context of the Australian coal industry situation, including the critical economic constraints. Both centrifugal and filtration technologies and applications to coarse, small, fine and ultrafine coal and also tailings. are covered. The overall analyses are distilled into a summary Table of current statusand R&D trends for five distinct categoriesof coal suspensions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
