Résumé Cet article cherche à montrer qu’il n’est pas toujours opportun d’opposer les approches égalitaristes et antidiscriminatoires, d’un côté, et les approches anglo-saxonnes plus récentes en France de type « diversity management », de l’autre. Il peut exister pour certaines minorités discréditables (par opposition aux minorités discréditées) à la fois une demande d’égalité des droits au niveau de la société et une aspiration à bénéficier de politiques « inclusives » en entreprise ce que permettent d’illustrer les résultats d’une enquête auprès de 1 413 salarié-e-s gays et lesbiennes. Comme une forte proportion d’entre eux/elles se cache sur le lieu de travail, la question de la discrimination devient secondaire. Il s’agit plutôt pour ces salarié-e-s d’estimer le degré de tolérance vis-à-vis d’orientations sexuelles « non conformes », notamment en ayant une idée du degré d’hétérocentrisme de leur environnement de travail. L’étude montre que ce sont bien plus les politiques de management de la diversité que celles de lutte contre les discriminations qui seraient en mesure d’assurer aux gays et aux lesbiennes qui souhaitent se dévoiler au travail, qu’elles/ils puissent le faire sans risque.
Résumé La virilité moderne a été jusqu’alors peu étudiée en relation avec la question du travail et des organisations. Dans une perspective sociohistorique, l’auteur rappelle comment s’est construit la virilité, dès la deuxième moitié du xviii e siècle, sur la base de deux contretypes que sont les femmes et les homosexuels. Trois institutions sont évoquées plus en détail (Armée, Sport et Médecine) avant d’entamer l’analyse de l’Entreprise, une autre "maison-des-hommes" où les cadres, la carrière et les systèmes de gestion jouent un rôle clé dans la domination masculine. La présentation des résultats d’une enquête par questionnaire auprès de 194 cadres homosexuel-le-s permet enfin de montrer comment s’organise le contrôle de la conformité aux principes virils lors de l’accès aux postes de pouvoir dans les organisations. En particulier, sont étudiés, à travers les représentations des dominés, les registres et stratégies homophobes, les épreuves viriles, ainsi que leurs stratégies de masques et les conséquences des discriminations, inégalités et injures sur leur santé.
En partant d'une analyse sur les postes de contact direct avec la clientèle dans les entreprises de service, les auteurs s'attachent à décrire les normes ayant un effet sur la charge de travail. La question de la « charge de travail » des salariés resurgit aujourd'hui avec force. Les négociations sur l'aménagement et la réduction du temps de travail ont amené à préciser ce qu'était exactement le temps de travail. Quel lien fallait-il établir entre le temps et une quantité de travail à effectuer ? Pour les directions des entreprises, la question-clé est bien évidemment celle de l'accroissement d'effectifs à prévoir pour compenser la réduction du temps de travail. Certains accords prévoient un suivi de l'évolution de l'activité, un programme d'action sur la productivité ou même un engagement à ne pas augmenter la quantité de travail par personne. Bien que rarement nommée, la « charge de travail » est au centre des discussions. Directions comme syndicats redoutent la « surcharge » de travail, synonyme d'accroissement des effectifs pour les premiers, de fatigue et de stress pour les seconds. De plus, la mise en place de cet ARTT (aménagement et réduction du temps de travail) a coïncidé avec une préoccupation plus générale relative à ce que certains appellent « l'intensification » du travail, liée aux nou-
